What Garmenta said. VS is awful. I went there a couple of years ago and I asked if they carried a 32D and they looked at me like I had 2 heads. For some reason, they think band size and cup size are related. If you are a 32, you must either be an A or a B. I think if I went there at my current size and asked for a 32DDD, they would probably faint from shock.

Anyway, I have not had personal experience with Nordies but I trust them because they stock a wide range of sizes. I think that is really the first and most crucial step in finding a good bra place: They must be aware of the range of sizes available. If they're not, they will measure you to fit only what they have in stock.

VS is notorious for not being precise about bra sizes. They measure you to fit what they have available, which may not be the size you need. If you have a Nordstrom's nearby, go there for a fitting--they use a combination of tape measure, eyeball, and experience. If you're on a budget, let them know, and they'll work with you.

You may want to consult some online instructions about measuring yourself--herroom.com has the best--but if your shape and size are changing a lot, an in-person fitting will give you the best result.

Last time I was 'fitted' for a bra was in the Lane Bryant store. When I couldn't find my size at LB anymore, they sent me to Victoria's Secret. Well, now those are too big too.

In any case - I'm pretty sure I've gone down a size or two since then. My VS bras are ill-fitting. Thing is, the limited experience I have with bra fittings is that they'll run a tape measure around you with your clothes and existing bra on - and the bras I have are too big, plus they have the sort of 'molded' cups, making it seem like I might be a larger size. They're not padded or anything, just that 'molded' style.

How can one get properly fitted for a bra when wearing one that's too big in the first place? The band on my VS bras is on the last hook and feels somewhat loose/stretched out, I've adjusted the straps as far as they can go, and there's still some 'space' at the top of the cups.

What now? Is this something I can figure out myself, or do I need to go and get properly fitted? And, how does one get fitted if the existing bra one is wearing is too big? Any suggestions on where to go for this?

Thanks.
