You need a longer rise in BFs because the fit is roomy. This makes complete sense.

Well, unfortunately I didn't see the size UP advice this morning before I ordered a size down when I got the 40% off email. We'll see how it goes. I did try them on pulled down as low as I could comfortably stand and they were a bit better, but still felt too big. Unfortunately these aren't in stores (at least not yet)...could save myself a lot of trouble. I also ordered the Carter Flats (Angie pick) this morning, because it just seemed wrong not to;-)

I agree, they need to sit lower on your hips. It's so odd that you measured the rise and it's the same as the Nikkis. I think that sizing up in the regulars is a good idea.

Some companies make pants in regular, long, and tall sizes. In a long size, the sizing is usually the same as a regular but the pants have added inches at the hem. In a tall size, inches are typically added to both the hem and the rise. I would try these in your regular size first, or see if they come in your size with long length (not tall). BR should honor the price, but you'll probably have to call or go to the store and have them order it for you.

Give them a pull down an inch or two so that they are hanging off of your hip bones. That might take care of the crotch issue - right now the crotch looks like its too tight - like, either you've got them pulled up too high on your torso, or they are just a teeny bit too small. I'd try one size larger to compare if I were you!

My thought looking at them was like Ceit's -- they need to be pushed down lower on your hips. And if that is not possible, you need to size UP, not down. Or else they're just not cut right for you, period...

I can't remember why, but I had two pairs of the same BR white jeans last year (straight leg), same size, and they were a drastically different fit. I almost got myself in trouble, as a friend was going to take my extra pair, and I almost gave her the pair that fit me well, without realizing. When she said "may as well take the ones that I tried on" I realized that _I_ should perhaps take the ones that I had tried on! Neither of us liked the second pair - they went back.

so, long story to say that if they are close, you might want to order a couple more pairs, as another pair might be perfect. And BR has 35-40% off every week it seems, so getting a sale price shouldn't be an issue.

Based on the measurements then they don't seem like they should be too short in the rise.

I wonder if it is just the cut?

Here in the US, you can call and have them ship you another pair of pants at the same price you paid (or they'll give you the lower price if the price has gone down.) You will be charged on your credit card for the new pair.

Hey, thanks for the kind words. Had a stressful day so nice to know I am an expert in something :)

They look cut kind of strangely -- can you snug them down about 1-2" on your hips? From the back view they look too high, that they are kind of floating instead of hanging from your hips. They look big enough at the upper thigh but then really squinched in the rise.

I was thinking exactly what Angie said. The rise actually looks too short. It looks like you're trying to wear it higher... are you used to a higher rise? Maybe BR cut this way to avoid a dropped crotch look when worn low on the hips? I'm not sure what to think about it.

You can exchange for size and still get the sale price I believe - I've done it twice recently with ON and Gap in Canada. You have to call and let them know you are exchanging. They send you the new pair at the same price you paid already and refund you the old ones when they receive them. No shipping charge either.

BTW as an aside I've already tried ON White BFs in two sizes and GAP's as well, all fails for me, SIGH. Hence my familiarity with their return policies.

It is so hard to tell from the photos but they seem a bit big. Kind of a matter of how you want them to fit and your style prefernce. I tend to not like to much extra fabric around the hips and crotch area. They may relax a bit too. Maybe try a size down?

I find that most tall clothing (especially BR)has some length added to the raise in addition to the inseam. Sometimes you can parse out this detail online but not always.
