I ended up getting the first pollka dot skirt--I think it looked OK from the side but I'll double check when I get home--thanks for the tip Lina. I left the floral one behind--you are right, the pattern is too dull and also the fit was too loose around the hips. I ended up sizing up to the M in the tee because it was a little more comfortable, but still fit nicely. And I found the blue and white striped shirt on sale in a size 8 as Angie recommended sizing up. So I got the polka dot shirt, blue striped shirt, and two tees in turquoise and emerald green all for the same price as the blue and pink striped shirt that I returned. Score! Does the skirt form a bubble @ your tummy area, giving the illusion of pot belly? I passed on these two because of that reason.
