I've said the same thing about the flare balancing out the hips. Thanks to those of you who noted the orchid --- I've always done magenta and deep purple, but never this shade.  I"m on the hunt,now! AJ:  I suspect we'll see a lot more of this shape next season, but I'm glad these worked out so I can enjoy them now.  I really don't find them any more problematic that the ubiquitous ankle pants, which often just look like "pants that are too short" on me.   I find the bit of flare balances out my fuller frame, whileI feel like a bit of an ice-cream cone in standard crops.  I know you have slim legs, and have a bolder shoulder line.  Even though our frames are very different, I think the effect would be flattering on you, too, if you find a good fit! I have both at my house right now in the same size. Sarah:  I'm not sure of the actual rise length.  When I'm near my closet again, I'll measure them.  The website calls them low rise.  I consider them more of a mid-rise.  I have a rounded booty, too (we are feminine, you know), and I could no way take this in a petite.  From the website, I would also have thought that "short inseam" and "petite" were two different fits! What is the rise length? I ordered the "short" which I thought would be the regular size only shorter but when they came, they were labeled petite. Why have different names for the same thing- so confusing. The petite have a rise of 8". I agree they should be higher in the back....I got some junk in my trunk! I'm debating about trying the regular size for a higher rise. I was curious about that orchid sweater too and also passed it for the same reason. I strongly recommend Loft white cropped flares, they fit really well and the material is fairly substantial. The first two are as I wore them yesterday -- with a new Sonoma sweater from Kohl's and tapestry flats.  The last photo is from the BR store.  Angie, I'm trying on an orchid sweater for you.  I didn't like the dropped shoulder though, so it stayed in the store! The crops are longer on my than the model.  It's possible that they might be better an inch or so shorter.  I'm going to wear them a few times before I decide.  To me, they look like they're a "deliberate" length and flare, but they fit more like an ankle pant. I did NOT size down.  I found them generous in the waist, but not so much in the bu-thigh.  They are not tight at all, but the stretch in the leg does conform to my thigh, rather than fall down it, if that makes sense.  I like the back view.  I do wish there was more of a difference between the back and front rise.  I like them higher in the back (booty needs coverage, y'all), and lower in the front.  I've used a belt to help with this in the photos. The gave a bit throughout the day, but did not really "stretch" out -- not nearly like my ON skinnies!  They are surprising soft and comfy, and I have lots of room in the calf -- unusual for me, as I'm sure my calves are more than 16" (all the better to race you with). If they had them in white --- I'd have snapped them up in a flash!
