Hope you didn't pay full price for NYDJ. In addition to Amazon and Zappos, they are at Nordstrom Rack including online. Or you can wait until they are marked down at Nordstrom, Macy's, etc.

Good question. I am always at risk of over- duplicating.
I have been a jeans sort- of-minimalist because my work wear and schedule did not leave much jeans- time. But I did finally discover how heans, the right kind, are just so always right for casual and smart casual occasions, plus j found s pair of slim BF that were comfortable enough to keep wearing at home when I used to change into sweats of some kind.
As in your post, I found jean styles do have different vibes so did me the BF is best in a medium wash since that looks more casusl, rolled- sneaks, good with summery colored tops, but I still can always use a darkwash straight( my skinny).
Then recently I added a BR distressed cropped straight and it fit so differently that it opened up new horizons for oufit looks with my existing tops and shoes. Paradoxically, I can wear a both sneakers and a wedge heel or slightly
dressIer shoe with these. I got compliments on them when out shopping( you may not realize how ironic and amusing that is for me!).
So that's a long way if saying it depends on how much time you spend in jeans- as there are folks on the forum who can wear jeans for all of their pants needs, just different degrees of casual. But I do find that different jeans really like different footwear, so these 2 pairs could give you a range of options. .
Or, do you only need ONE darkwash pair and must decide on best length and skinny vs straight vs BF.

They sound like they could be totally different jeans on your body so maybe there isn't duplication after all. If you are comfortable posting pictures of you wearing the jeans the forum might have better insights. My legs are thicker so some boyfriend styles fit more like skinny jeans depending on how I size them. I love Runs with Scissors Amazon tip!

I think the key may be seeing how they fit on you! And knowing how often you want to wear jeans and what the context is. I find I like my skinny jeans more than the boyfriend style with loose blouses, and also with blazers (which can risk looking boxy on me).

I got my first skinny jeans last year and they opened up totally new silhouettes for me. Like you, before I had only wide-legs and boyfriends. Last year my tops didn't quite catch up: this year I have added some longer, looser shirts and am enjoying the change of pace. I'm liking the flowing blouse under a relaxed jacket or cardigan look at the moment.

NYDJs were the first (and so far only) skinny jeans that work for me (even when NYDJ calls them "boyfriend" jeans). I have found them significantly below retail on Amazon from time to time.

Hello friends!

My one and only pair of jeans until recently is a wide-leg, high waisted sailor jean, but I have been feeling left out of these fabulous cropped and slim styles. I decided on some slimmer-leg boyfriend jeans. I have two pair, one of which I'm keeping and one I'm not sure if I should keep.

The first is a pair of lightly distressed BF jeans that look much like the first photo below. Definitely baggy, wider around the bottom, very casual. I think they look fab with my white Converse and a Breton stripe t-shirt but are much too casual for my other shoes and sandals. They are a definite keep.

So I got a second pair- these from NYDJ, second picture. They are more fitted, really not baggy at all as I have pretty muscular thighs, but they are more polished and tapered at the bottom. I thought I could wear these with wedge sandals or ballet flats, as they really look mostly like skinny jeans on me. They are very comfortable and fit well, and I like them.

The only thing is the NYDJ are expensive, and although I like them, I don't want to keep them if they are overly similar to the other pair. Are the NYDJ different/dressy enough to wear with dressier shoes and maybe a floaty/silky top?

How would you style the second pair?

I am so appreciative of your help.
