I love BF jeans. My all-time favourite jean style. I do prefer a higher rise on them now than a few years ago. I also find that BF jeans are sometimes called slouchy skinnies. These days I am wearing my Frame Le Garcon BF jeans but I still have my Fidelity AXL BF jeans and Paige Porter BF jeans. I wear BF jeans with a close-fitting top and a nice belt.

I like the embroidery, but my embroidered skinnies did feel seasonally confused in the bitter cold weather! Polar vortex + tigerlillies and butterflies...sigh...
Maybe try them in March or April and see how you feel then.

I think I'm repeating but I find I wear the BF style in the summer. Looser, cooler fit and easier to wear with bare ankles.

I did a wardrobe clean up last weekend and realized that I own 16 pair of jeans and 10 of them are boyfriend/girlfriend style. I have loved this look since the 80's when I used to steal my brother's 501's. I am extremely short waisted so the highest rise I can wear is a 9". Boyfriend jeans hit my sweet spot for this. I wear them all winter long with sock booties or cowboy boots. I prefer blouses and blazers to sweaters so I get a streamlined fit up top. Skinny jeans are my least favorite style. I only own one pair. I love that there are so many jean styles since there are so many different body types. We can all find something that makes us look and feel fab.

Why yes--I am wearing my R & B Dre's today. They are comfortable and I like to wear them at home. Good choice for a dreary rainy day as I waited for Roto-Rooter man to come clean out our storm drain that got plugged and flooded the spa with muddy water and bark. Yep, just the right kind of day for boyfriend jeans.

By the way, the fit today is quite a bit snugger and I appreciate the looser fit. I had serious doubts about boyfriends originally, but these and a white pair I have turned out to be useful items.

So I guess these and the white pair I have now count more as comfort wear than fashion wear.

I suspect if you no longer feel good wearing them that maybe the time has passed for them to be useful for you. I agree with the others--maybe wait for the change of seasons.

- I definitely think part of it is the rise. I’ve been wearing more high rises, which work better with my hip shape.

- I also agree the embroidery and light wash read more spring/summer so maybe those can go into the holding bin for a few more months.

- The black jeans probably need to be passed on. They are a color and weight that should have me reaching for them right now, so if I’m not, I think it’s time for them to find another home.

Thank you all for the feedback!

I’d hang on until at least spring when I think the ankle baring and embroidery will feel right.

while almost all my jeans are mid rise, and I’m not a big tucker, I am also finding that they feel off. (Thanks for nothing YLF ). But I’m hanging on to the pairs I like as I’m not out of room in my closet and i do wear a a lot of hip length sweaters and tops, and if you are covering the top few inches, only you know the rise. But I need to find one or two higher rise pairs to go with the cute shorter tops I see that I don’t want to be orphans.

I feel like it could be a seasonal thing (mind you I have a weather bias!). I might tuck them away until the temperate weather shows up and see if you might wear them more then.

I don’t know where you live, but for me BF jeans are mostly a warmer weather (spring/summer/early fall) item, because I think they look best rolled and with bare ankles. So if I were you I’d hang on to them for a few more months and then reassess.
I don’t wear mine as much any more but still keep a couple of pairs because they are so comfortable. And you can pry my midrise jeans out of my cold, dead hands.

I wonder what are the jeans you do wear most? Is it that these just don't feel good on you?
For styling, I like boyfriend jeans with a fitted top and a cute belt, to show off the waist, similar to what gryffin said. Another combo that works for me is a looser but still body-skimming top and jeans cuffed or rolled.
If you are interested enough to experiment with them, maybe keep. Otherwise, free yourself.

I’m keeping the few pairs I have because I like them in warmer weather. The slouchy fit feels better than a tight fit when it’s humid/sticky out, and the rolled legs are easier to wear with flats, sandals, and fashion sneakers than booties, I’ve found. No fussing with how long to cuff them, etc. And I’m so short-waisted that mid-rise works like a high rise on me, anyways.

I don't know if I'll ever give up my BF jeans. I like them best for spring and summer though--with a bootie and rolled up. I do tuck them into mid calf boots in winter although it's probably not the most flattering look. I like variety though so I do rotate through them. It's nice to have an option for wet weather that's not a skinny jean. Just my 2 cents.

I have a pair of Kut boyfriends that are at least 6-7 years old now, and I still wear them, albeit not as frequently as I used to. They aren't mid or low rise, as nothing really is on me , but I do like the looser fit once in awhile. I think the embroidery is spring/summer for sure, and might even be what is turning you off right now. I'm a bit sorry I ever invested in embroidered jeans too - never ended up wearing them.

Gretchen - I'm a slim rectangle and I have a sweet spot with rise. My girlfriend and "high rise" are both listed as 9" but the girlfriends are more contoured and dip in front the high rise are straighter in the front. I don't think there's more than 1/2" difference. As Jenni rightly points out, to use Angie's phrase, "Horses for courses." I think this is about body type and fit. My husband thinks these are super sexy because of how I style them. I like less fitted pants with a fitted ribbed tank. The pants must fit well in the seat but have looser thighs and legs. Showing off the waist with a lower contoured waistband gives me a super long waisted look and since I have long legs, I find this very flattering. But that's because it works for me!! These are also my summer shorts! So I do love my madewell 9" high rise but I'll be keeping these too. I would ask yourself if you feel good in those jeans or not. If you love them but they are not calling to you right now, you might want to hold them a bit. If you are over them, or bought them to be on trend then perhaps it's time to move on. In your heart I'm sure you really know!!

For me, boyfriend jeans with a truly slouchy fit are best for spring or cooler summer days. Last year, I bought two pairs in a very lightweight denim just so that I would have "summer jeans" . And yes, they are a higher rise so they do feel more current maybe? I could never get the low-rise versions to fit properly. I don't like BF jeans much with chunky knitwear; too much bulk, as you say. And I really only like them rolled or cuffed, which means I don't reach for them as much when it's too cold for bare ankles.

Umm- sorry, never liked them. Not a case of being tired of the style since I was never keen on the style, even on all you lovely Fabbers who happily wore them. They always look floppy, unfeminine and unflattering in general to me, but I am sure that will be an unpopular view on the forum. We all march to the beat of different drums, right? So ignore me!

I love the overall style -- looser legs, with a slight taper -- because it happens to work best for my body type. But I'm retiring all my low and mid-rise ones in favour of styles that are higher rise.

Mine need to be retired because the rise is too low. My beloved white Catherine boyfriends now look horrible on me. Look at the rise on yours

Are they mid rise? I can’t stand the feel of midrise anymore.

While cleaning out my closet, I realized I have a few pairs of boyfriend jeans that are not being worn (find below). Not sure if it’s seasonal (bulkysweaters + boyfriend jeans = too much bulk) or maybe a style shift?

Anyone else tired of this style? Or maybe I need to rethink how to wear them?
