Oh no, Lyn! Seriously? What did you do to him/her?

Shannon, this may sound positively outrageous, but if your cobbler's idea doesn't fix it, would it work to have the elastic section replaced entirely with a tie or button/snap instead? Or could it be a straight patch if you don't need the elastic to help the shoe stay on? Though at this point, the fix may be more expensive than the shoe!

I hate it so much when this happens! I had a similar problem with my black and white flats which I liked to death but they were a death to my feet rubbing my heels into bloody blisters so I had to give them away.
I hope these booties can be saved for you - keeping my fingers crossed!

See that's the part that stinks Una - other than that little one inch spot on the back of each heel, these things are amazingly comfortable for me. I hope things go well with your booties!

These shoes were really uncomtortable for me with my wide feet. I had to return them. Hope this fix works for you. The quilted booties (picking them up today to see if they are fixed) send their sympathies.

I had a pair of Tahari flats with the elastic back and barely could stand them. Never thought of having a cover made - that should work. I sold my flats at consignment though already lol.

I wondered about the size up thing too Kelly - except if they were any smaller, they would definitely be too tight.

I hope this works. I had a pair of flats with the same kind of elasticated back that wore my heels raw. I gave them away because I could never get them to break in. I was dubious about the Boutique 9's but ordered them anyway. I'm wondering if the extra half size up has prevented these from doing the same thing. I've worn them several time for 5 hours or more with no problems. Fingers crossed your cobbler is able to save them for you!

Wow Shannon!
I am sorry they are rubbing you the wrong way!! (Pun intended). I have been just wearing mine around the house a little trying to break them in. They were actually too tight so I put shoe stretchers on them to loosen them up. Not wearing them out till I know they are comfortable which is a drag since they are so cute and I do want to wear them right away!

I love the Boutique 9 peep toe booties that several of us have (including Angie). They are the perfect colour, are super comfortable and fit perfect except for one issue. The heel. I'm not sure if it's because of where it hits my heel or if it's the elastic itself, but they literally rub my skin raw. I've tried moleskin and the gel heel grips. These will not stay stuck to the back of the shoe because of the flex (give and take) of the elastic.

So on my lunch hour, I took them to a cobbler I've used a few times and completely trust. She indicated that she cannot remove the elastic and re-stich the back because it will make the back of the shoe too low and they will not stay on my foot. She is however going to dye two strips of very soft leather to match the shoes, and then stitch that over top of the elastic area, slightly rolling over the top. It will make the back of the shoe a little thicker (which should be ok) but hopefully softer. She did run her fingers along the elastic of the shoe and said to her touch, it was extremely rough. So here's hoping this works...if not, I'm unsure where to go from here...I'll keep you posted.
