Thanks, Jen! That's one of the tops I already purchased. It's a great fit and is actually deep navy and an oatmeal background. I'll be pairing it with my navy moto and denim jacket this Spring!

Joy: I'll start wearing these tops when I "retire" my Deep Winter capsule in two weeks, an they'll be my go to until the end of May. Then they reappear in September until November. I do wear a lot of sleeveless in July/August, and some in June! I'm leaning toward just one or two of the blouses above, in addition to the Loft patterned one (upper left) that I already own. I'll need a couple of refreshers for my sleeveless tops this year, mostly because I find they don't last as long, probably because I wear them in intense heat and sun and have to launder more often!

Thanks, Angie! I've always imagined that deep blue-red was "my" red, but I'm more open now to new shades! I think it's time to retire the idea that my complexion is "sallow." I'm still warm toned, but aging has some benefits, and I'm capable of wearing a wider range of color these days. However, some pastels and black do seem to "wash me out" more.

Another vote for the V-neck ruffles, and I love the tomato patterned blouse too. Saw it in person last week. Yummy pattern.

For spring/summer you have pictured many tops with long sleeves. To me those look like they will be too hot. I like the top middle short sleeved tee if it isn't too short on you, and the top left sleeveless. You can wear a topper with these if the weather is cool, but often the spring season is very short in the Midwest. I suggest that you wait a few more weeks. After inventory for tax purposes the stores will be very busy restocking new things.

Rachy: V-necks are my best neckline, as long as they're not va-va voom! I'm so not amused with all the jewel necks recently. Of course, some of my swan necked fab-sisters are stocking up!

Peri: We both are used to highlighting the top half and framing the face. I think it suits are profession and our high contrast coloring!

Carter: Well, you highlighted the two I already own (top left, and top right, along with top middle), so that's good! I do think I'll need to save some budget room for tops for a new silhouette or two!

Unfrumped: I can usually tell by feel if a fabric will breathe well enough. The one on the top left is quite sheer, and will need an all cotton cami, but will definitely be OK. I also use the breath test --- exhaling through the fabric to see how much air passes through. It's odd, but it works! I usually do better with sleeveless or looser fits, of course. And I'm careful which ones I choose when I'll be outside a lot during a Summer heat wave!

I likd the ruffle tops, too and also #1 print, but will you have trouble with polyester if you run warm ? I run cold and actually can still be cold in summer with A/C, but still sometimes have trouble with where poly fits in going from indoors to outdoor heat and humidity, or what is my actual season for wear.
We need more woven options for fabric blends!

Great planning! I'm sensing some pent-up demand;-). For you, I like all 4 tops on the far right and the one on the top left. With wide-leg bottoms, I'd likely so a slim (but not too slim) top that hits at the high hip bone or a couple inches below.

I love that first Loft print one for you...looks like your colors. And either the blush or navy ruffle blouse.

I always go tops down. I never care much about pants variety, for lots of boring reasons! And I know what you mean about the third piece. I was analyzing one reason I dislike summer clothes and completely apart from the heat issue I realized that one of the reasons I love my scarves is the burst of colorful print they give my outfits. I've resolved to try to find some hot weather tops in bold prints and see if that does anything for me.

Well, I've been working on my 2016 Style Goals (finished, but not articulated in writing), refreshing my Deep Winter capsule, and preparing for Spring Transition (Deep Winter is done on March 1, even if we're buried in snow) and Warm Spring capsules.

I intended to start with bottoms and footwear, and fill in with tops, but I've seen so little of spring pants and footwear in the store (particularly white pants) that I've been thwarted meanwhile I purchased a couple of spring sweaters (no pics yet), and three tops (pic 1 & 2, Loft, pic 3, Kohls). Honestly, I think all of these tops suit my frame better than the models -- I would not have bought them had I not tried them on.

Now BR has a 40% off sale, and I'm contemplating some new tops, which means I'm planning upside down. Here are the tops I like so far, and a brief sketch of my silhouette plans:

Have: slim BF jeans (denim and white),
white BF bermudas,
black PIxie ankle pants,
black silky track pants,
dark skinnies,
stonewashed bootcuts and straights.
slim cargo pants in deep olive,

Planned:   white bootcuts, and maybe a slimmer white crop.
(so far) soft culotte, in black or denim
wide legs --- perhaps in linen -- in white, black or chambray
"accent" in a complementary color, or a patttern

Which of these tops (pick one or two) do you feel makes most sense for my style? What kind of tops will I need to pair with wide leg Summer pants and culottes, if I find them?

(I'm aware that I've selected a lot of printed tops. I do have more prints in my warm weather selections, because I lose that third piece, and the prints disguise the sweat and wrinkles that come with warmer weather.)
