Thanks ladies for the suggestions. Copley sounds nice. I'm not doing much shopping per se - mainly window shopping (being broke sucks!). Does Copley have a parking garage or is there one near by? My kids are 5 and 1 so as much as I'd love to go, there's no way I want to be on Newbury street in this weather with them. Consignment shopping is also out. I really just want to be able to park somewhere and kill a few hours. Kendall Square sounds good too. I'll have to figure out exactly where my husband is going to be - he said something vague like downtown so who knows. We do have to stop at the German consulate so that he can do something with his passport too.

I love the Natick mall - especially since they expanded it and added so many great stores. I actually used to come up there every couple of months a few years ago because I had a good friend that lived in Framingham. I would go to Wrentham but since I don't actually intend on buying much, there's no point.

He he, well the ladies already said what I was going to say :)

Downtown there are these two big malls, Prudential and Copley, connected with pedestrian overpass. One has some quite high-end stores, the other one is more normal. There is a huge Club Monaco in there, which is a big plus.

Newberry Street is great, but it might not work with kids. In case you manage to get there, I wouldn't miss Zara, H&M and Filene's Basement.

The Galleria mall at Kendall square is a very simple mall to navigate. It also has Club Monaco and H&M, as well as Jacob and Benetton.

My two favorite out-of-the-city malls are Natick and Burlington, which are both about half an hour drive away. They both have Nordstrom and Zara, and I beleive Natick mall has Jacob too.

( I was trying to focus on Euro and such store that might not be present at smaller places).

You could also get a list of consignment shops and map them out, then pick some that are near enough to each other to check out.

Thats what I would od if I were to go to boston for the day! I am sooo jealous of all the Boston YLFers that talk about all the great stuff they have found at consignment.

I live right outside of Worcester and there is only one consignment here, and I don't think it's got a lot of high end stuff

I think it depends on what kind of clothing you're looking for, and wheter you want an indoor mall (probably your best bet with kids in tow) or if you're looking to get some fresh air. Here's a list of the "top 10 Boston shopping locals"

Shana, hopefully Tanya will come on here and reply as she is more familiar with the downtown malls. I suspect she'll recommend Copley:

http://www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?ID=784

This mall is quite large. Last time I was there with my teens, we split up, and then had trouble finding each other because I got horribly lost, and then our cell phones weren't working (poor reception). So, if your kids are of an age you are usually comfortable allowing them to go off on their own to shop, I recommend you keep them close and don't separate.

Tanya will explain this better than me, but there are actually two malls that are connected by a pedestrian overpass. One side is your typical mall shops the other is more upscale, high-end shopping (the kind that bores my teens to death - hence why we split up!)

If you're looking for a smaller, easier to navigate mall that is teen and tween friendly, there's Kendall Square mall in Cambridge. It's three stories and a regular layout so hard to get lost in. I like this mall because it has an H&M and a Jacob. If your kids are younger, I recommend (if the weather isn't too chilly) taking the Charles River Ferry that departs from the mall (right outside the food court - can't miss it). It's less than an hour excursion up the Charles and back, but it's fun. Also this mall is near the Museum of Science which is great for kids of any age, and you can get a duck tour cruise from there. I've never been on the duck tour but my kids have (school field trips) and loved it!

My husband has a meeting in Boston next week and I was planning on going with him and hitting some local shopping venues. I'll have two kids in tow so I can't go anywhere really fun like Newbury St. I usually go to Natick Mall but does anyone have any other suggestions closer to Boston? I don't want to have to drop him off (his meeting is downtown) and then drive roundtrip to Natick/Framingham.

Thanks!!
