Lately I am preferring the tall boots but that’s mainly because my ankle boots have a heel and my tall boots are almost flat, so the tall boots are much more comfortable.</p> <p>I don’t have an aesthetic issue with a gap between the skirt and the top of the tall boots. The only thing I try to avoid is when the hem of the skirt sits right on the top of the boot. Just because it can cause some wear and tear to the skirt. Having a skirt that comes over the knees, then a bit of leg, an ankle, and a foot just looks too choppy to me. A boot that goes all the way up past the hem lets the skirt swoosh or flow, or whatever it does, down, and then the eyes just flow smoothly down the boot shank. (This is directly contradicted, of course, by Gnger’s fab outfit with white skirt, bare fair skin, and white ankle boots. That shouldn’t work, according to what I just said, but she looks great! Maybe it’s the low contrast on her entire lower body, and then the black/white contrast with her top). </p> <p>With skirts above the knee, I’ve worn tall boots and short boots (like the pix in my red boots I posted tonight). </p> <p>I’ve posted pix of myself in boots and skirts before, wish there was an easy way to grab those pix and put them here. But even Facebook hasn’t figured out how to do that yet. </p> <p>One other consideration is decorations on the boots. I think either a gap or an overlap can work, and closing the gap is really nice when it's chilly, tbh. The only one I wouldn't wear myself is #7 but that's because my calves are chunkier than Ginger's and the combo of midi plus ankle boots would just emphasize that in a way that would make me a bit self-conscious. But i also dont want the hem of the skirt and boot top in the same place.<br /> Generally i like tall streamlined boots, with no ankle clutter, cognac (low contrast to me) booties with nude to me tights, or darker booties with darker tights. Sock booties work well. My midi skirts come right to the top of the boots; a gap isn’t even visible to most people because of the angle. I've found that opaque tights smooth the visual transition. Angie favors Spanx tights so I'm going to try a pair. My tights are black to blend with my black boots however, if you're more daring, sport a pair of colorful tights in any color or pattern.
