I've ordered these booties from zappos, we'll see how they compare:

http://www.zappos.com/gabriell.....odPage2a:0

http://www.zappos.com/tsubo-cu.....odPage2a:0
(heel is actually 2.5, not 3.5)

I'm afraid the opening on the first pair will be HUGE, and that the heels on the second pair will still be too high, but I won't know unless I take a chance. I'll be making a trip to DSW soon too!

Scarlet, good call about trying the insole on in a store - I'll look into that this weekend.

I could try contacting Miz Mooz... the problem is that this bootie is from fall 2009 - its first review on endless is from Oct 2009! I think that the size 7 should fit with an insole and the right socks, so really it's just the heel. I'll also make a trip to the cobbler this weekend to see what he can do. Unfortunately, the toe of the bootie already points up a bit, so I doubt he can take much more off the heel, but we'll see...

Kate, in a shoe store they will usually let you try on the insole with your shoe before you buy it. At least they allow that in Germany, land of sucky customer service, so I think a service-friendly store in the U.S. would do at least as much. Just ask. I am sure half of the people would say yes. I get you with the heel, but, sigh, those are great booties. I don't even like booties usually.

Would it be possible to contact Mis Mooz and ask them to locate the size you need? Can a shoe store order it for you? Personally owned shoe stores that carry the line would usually do that. It is early in the season, so a smaller size must be kicking around somewhere.

As I scrolled through your photos, I began with a predisposition to like the boots. But then I *saw* the booties and fell in love. They really perk up the outfits and highlight your legs. Huge aha moment here!

So.. can you return the booties and get a smaller size so they're more comfortable? You deserve the perfect bootie, not a compromise.

I definitely think the fit of your current boots looks better than the cognac ones. Also, though I love the congac colour, I think your current boots look better with what you have to wear them with.

Scarlet, I'm tempted. Is there a way to try insoles and return them if they don't work? I do have at least 1 pair of socks that works with them (aka isn't visible from outside the shoes), but I would need to buy more...

And then there's the heels. I can get around comfortably in my Tahra boots, which are 2" tall and the heel is somewhat wide. These booties are 2 3/4" tall, and significantly thinner. I think they're a bit too tall and a bit too thin, and I do a lot of walking (some of it through gravel and over potholes) so I'm afraid of hurting my ankles...

Honestly, I ordered these because I knew they would be impractical and so I would have to return them. Instead of being the "booties that got away" I'm hoping to use them as the booties that inspire my search for the perfect pair. My perfect boot search continues, but I now have a MUCH better idea of what I'm looking for, and feel a more hopeful that I will (eventually) be victorious!

Edit: For anyone who wants these for their own, I discovered that the flap can be worn up also, which means they can fit well under pants too! Ugh, I'm tempted to ask my cobbler how much he could shorten the heel and how much it would cost.

Wow, I'm amazed by how powerful the bootie love is!

I, like C1 and Megan, prefer the boots with the pants. Which prompted me to pull out the boots I already have, and compare the two sets of knee-high boots. I reached the conclusion that the boots I already have are definitely better in fit, and I think are a better color for the pants. In case you're interested, here are those pictures. (the pants are skinny jeans, skinny cords, skinny black cotton pants, and brown leggings)

Since the cognac booties are better than the cognac boots with skirts, and the dark brown boots are better than the cognac boots with pants, I am no longer on the market for cognac boots! THANK YOU all for helping me work through this, it's a huge relief! Now I just have to find some cognac booties that I can walk a couple miles in daily...

I LOVE the colour of both! Personally, I'm obsessed right now with trying to find the perfect cognac boots at a thrift store because I can't afford the ones I want new. Those are pretty close to my perfect boot, so I'm going to have to say boot. Though I do love those booties. I would think you'd get more use out of the boots and they'd last longer style-wise as well.

Oh my! I have to say booties stole my heart here!

Those boots are lovely, but we have seen lots of boots. I might prefer the boots for the tucked in skinnies, but for everything else those booties are even more fab!

I think it is the gorgeous warm color, the interesting lines of the leather, the way they complement those skirts where black would be too harsh.

If you don't NEED boots (because boots will have more longevity), then pursue those booties. . .

I ordered some miz mooz booties (see post here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....oz-booties) and indigo by clarks boots (see post here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....row-enough). Ultimately both will be returned. The booties are a size too big and have too high of a heel for the amount of walking I do (and places I walk). The boots need a narrower shaft. However I really like both, so I decided to do a boot-off to help me determine if what I really want are boots or booties.

So, here are a whole bunch of pictures of me wearing a boot and a bootie. Which do you like better? I'll save my opinion until I hear what you think!
