Ok, I live in a hot climate, and I can start wearing ankle boots (with thin wool socks) when it's in the low 70s F/21-24 C outside. However while the rest of me runs hot my feet are always cold and never sweat (I can comfortably wear closed toed flats barefoot all the way up to 95-100 F/35-38 C). So I think they'll work for your winter!

Refugee - I have a huge crush on those knee high gladiators! I had first seen them on another blogger. I can't thank you enough for reminding me of those! They can definitely be *my* knee highs instead of the boots!

But they are a bit harder to find I guess I have not come across those, in the retail stores here else they would have walked home with me long back!

Thanks shemarie! I am very humbled by your comments on my style!

For MOTG look, I am going to find the lowest possible heel on my casual boots so that I can wear them everyday of winter on anything I fancy! The right kind of boots are just so versatile!

Have you thought about a knee-high gladiator sandal? I think they could give a boot-vibe to an outfit in a climate where regular knee high boots aren't really an option.

Both the boots are from zara and are available in my local store, Scarlet. I am totally in love with their boots collection. But I am not sure about the comfort, which I would have to check. I have read here that zara shoes are a hit or miss. Mine were a hit but not sure of these until I try!

I really love the idea of cut-outs and peep-toe booties, Neel, and think you would definitely really rock them with your amazing style! I will be watching your thread as I'm on the lookout for some MOTG-friendly styles as well, though I'm a bit unsure of how to make them work for my own daily life.

Living in Arizona, my climate is extremely similar, but I have to say every single day it is below about 75 degrees F or so I wear boots. Every. Single. Day. Of course, that's only about three or four months' worth, but as long as the boots are real leather and the outfit isn't seasonally-confused otherwise, I believe it works and my feet are very happy. In fact, after living here a long time and adjusting to the extreme heat, I'm amazed at just how quickly my feet now get cold...like if it's in the 60s! Sad, but true. Also, for style inspiration, I find Rae's, CocoLion's and others' styles/photos extremely helpful!

Can't wait to see what you find and how you incorporate them into your style!

I would also say cut outs. That first pair you show reminds me a lot of other pairs I have seen on the Internet lately with cutouts. I think it must be copying some particular style, like I don't know, Alexander Wang?

Thank you all for your very helpful comments. Cut outs are definitely my style and I will keep an eye out for them. Unlined and roomy is what I need to remember!

Thanks for the links rae! I will surely give the peep toes a try if the right one comes along. I love Anna's boots and hope to find something similar for my dainty ankles!

Gryffin - The everly is plain awesome! I hope I find them here!

If your feet like them, why not? My feet are always cold, so I wear boots most of the year. I haven't worn them in summer, but think I might if I manage to find some that look different than the ones I wear in cooler weather. The suggestion of cutout booties sounds like a winner to me.

Well, your winter is like my summer And I LOVE wearing boots during summer, with breezy dresses and bare legs. It shouldn't be warmer than 25 C, though. 22 degrees C is usually the point where I start to feel a little bit uncomfortable in boots. I don't do tall boots, but slouchy midcalf boots, pull-on biker boots, booties all work for me. I prefer it if they are slightly roomy around the calves. And I agree with Diana: unlined / lined with leather boots would be better. And yes, cutout booties!

Neel - I hate sandals. I have a true fear of hurting my toes and my feet are always cold. I was thrilled when booties came in peeptoe, cut outs, slashed varieties. I have the Jeffery Campbell Everly and Alexia booties and I wore them as my version of sandals all summer. So I am a huge yes. If they make more of that ilk this summer I will be stocking up. PS Jeffery Campbell makes extremely comfy booties if you want to check them out I find both just total foot heaven!!

Hm, maybe do a test run with an inexpensive pair of booties first. I personally wear boots in all but our hottest months in Los Angeles. But other people in my same climate can't stand to do that.

Other options are cutout booties like Anna just got, peep toe booties as Diana suggested, or gladiators with thick straps like Dr. Martens makes. Example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/251383145341?lpid=82
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/181260959823?lpid=82

Thanks Diana. Well its mostly very dry and hot! I never sweat here! But boots could be a different ball game! My last boots hardly got two wears and those were mostly indoors, so can't rely on past experience.

I know your problem well cos I used to live in that kind of climate! I definitely think you can pull off ankle booties. I have a friend who wore such booties to work everyday under pants. If you work in air-con, it's not hot and socks will absorb regular sweat.

I would say try and get some ventilation in there so the feet don't feel suffocated. The trends right now help: wide shafts, cut outs, perforation. Have fun!

If I were you, I'd consider getting some peep-toe booties! I think you might live in the only climate where they would be practical.

Otherwise, look for things that are lighter weight in unlined or lined in leather (no fake leather lining, as that is sweaty, and obviously no fleece or fur lining!). I think the big issue is humidity. If it's dry and hot, boots or booties will be fine. The problem is if it's humid and hot (like it is in summers here in New England where I live), then your feet get horridly sweaty.

I live in a country which has four seasons "extremely hot", "very hot", "hot", "not that hot". We have about 4 months of "not that hot" weather where our temps are usually between 12/15C to 20/25C and we call this weather winter! You will usually see all kinds of boots during this season. During the summer, the air conditioning in malls/restaurants or just about anywhere is arctic but boots are not that visible.

I don't own boots for now (the one with high heels is in the line of fire because of discomfort). But I love the way they refresh a boring outfit. If I could .... I would have boots of all length and styles! How I envy you girls with boots to rock! :D I might have a budget of about 250$ the next month and I have seen some really cool pairs in Zara. Now my questions!

1) Would you recommend boots for my climate?
2) I don't think a knee high is going to work for practicality reasons but do you think I could own 2 pairs of ankle boots or is that too much?
3) I was thinking one dressier pair and one casual grungy one, both in black (something like the ones attached). Since my wardrobe is mostly made of blacks and they would bookend well with my black hair. Do you think that is sensible?

Wondering if I am being practical and sensible here! Or have I lost my marbles?
