Thanks for all the feedback! I think I'm going to try on a half size smaller to see if that helps with the heel slipping issue. I'm really curious about the heel height, because my instinct was also that it's too high, but when I tried them on, they seemed perfectly comfortable. I'd just been wearing higher heels though, so perhaps I only thought they were comfortable in comparison. I think I'll give them one more try, but I suspect you all are right that it's just not quite right and I'll need to keep looking.

Isis: I hadn't looked at those before since my searching has been mostly passive, but now that you've pointed it out, I'll definitely keep my eye on them. Thanks!

Because of the fit issues you've talked about, I'd pass on them. I know it's difficult to find shoes when you have fussy feet, but the last thing you want to do is shell out that kind of money for something that only kind-of works.

Blue but not these.

Have you looked at Angie's picks for boots/booties/ankle boots? Go up to the top bar, click on finds and then click around until you find the footwear categories.

I have these, from there, and they are low heeled and can walk all day. Unfortunately not blue.
http://www.amazon.com/BCBGener.....B00BULQRDW

Ack, I love them, but I have to agree with the others. As I'm dedicating more time each day to walking, no matter where I am, I'm becoming more aware of my heel height choices. I love my R&B Newburys, and they are comfortable for a stretch (I did wear them for a marathon shopping day in SoCal with the YLF ladies), I know they're not really the best thing for my feet, and I feel it by the end of the day. These appear to have a very similar profile. So, considering that and the fit issues, I would keep looking, sad as I am to say it.

I tried and eventually returned a really cute pair of Boutique 9 blue booties I got at Anthro -- after wearing around the house, I decided the comfort factor was not there. So I relate to the lust for the blue. But let's both be PPP!

Casting my vote for continuing to search for the perfect pair of booties. These ones are stunning, especially in the blue, but if they're not comfortable from the beginning I'd pass.

I think Marley is giving good advice. They look so cute, but if you want a truly everyday shoe, the heel is pretty high. I have found that I have been weak in buying too many high-heel shoes, and I simply can't wear them every day. I keep reaching for the same old low-heeled shoes if I have some serious errands to run or need to do a lot of walking. Also, my opinion is that at a high price point, you need to put the booties on and immediately say, "Ahhhh!" because of the comfort and the fit.

I say to keep looking.

Comfort first, particularly with boots, I think! I can get away with a less than stellar fit in sandals or party shoes, but boots need to feel good!

They are gorgeous, and I think dark blue boots would add subtle, edgy interest to an all black outfit.

I think they are not that comfortable. I have a pair of Newburys, they are cute booties, but sitting shoes. If you want something truly comfortable, go with a heel that is 2" or under. If you want a passably comfortable ankle boot, go for something under 3". These boots are over 3.5" high. I wore my Newburys (same heel height) for Thanksgiving and they were fine for a mix of standing and sitting. I have tried shopping in them, they are way too high for that and I get tired after an hour in them.

Having said all of that I do think Rag & Bone makes great boots, I have two pairs and am considering a third that are lower than the Newburys and Harrows. I just think you should be forewarned of their true comfort.

I don't think I'd invest any kind of $ in a boot with that type of fit issue. I find that often times it doesn't feel uncomfortable initially, but by the end of a day your foot has slipped back and forth so many times that it really starts to hurt.

Blue! Blue with black is great. And you always have funky colored shoes and it works for you.

But, I know the Newbury boots really didn't work for me, and I think these are the same last, so if you're worried about it I'd probably listen to your gut.

Something I've been looking for sort of passively the last few months is a pair of feminine looking black ankle boots with a low/no heel. It's staple that I've somehow been missing all this time - mostly I've been getting by on my combat boots. So a couple days ago, I came across the Harrow Boot from Rag and Bone. It's a lot more expensive than I was thinking about shelling out for, and I was worried about the heel being too high, so I'd mostly put it on my list to keep an out for but stopped thinking about it. But yesterday evening, I ran across someone at a holiday party wearing them, and she said that they were incredibly comfortable, which of course led me to going to Barney's today to try them on. They're definitely really comfortable, and the heel height doesn't seem to be a problem at all. I'm now thinking about asking for my parents to subsidize them as a Christmas gift, but I have a couple of questions/points of angst first:

1) The boot is incredibly narrow in the front, which doesn't work super well with my broad feet. I end up needing a 9.5 (they say to size up half a size, and I usually wear 8-8.5), and my heel ends up slipping a bit in them. Because of how narrow the front is, I probably can't wear socks of reasonable thickness with them. They're still comfortable, and if I put insoles or heel grips in them, they work better, but I'm wondering if it's worth spending that much money if they're not perfect.

2) What color should I get? I had planned on going with the black pair, as a more versatile, every day boot, but the blue is gorgeous. I generally think of blue as fairly versatile, but I tend to wear a lot of black, and I'm concerned that they won't go well with an all black outfit. The two shoes are also slightly different, and I like the slightly smaller and rounder toe cap of the blue a bit better. You can see the difference between the two in the third picture below.

So, basically, do you think I should get them? And if so, which color?
