Marianne, I ordered the medium width and found them just right. I typically wear a medium width so they were what I expected. I also found them true-to-size in foot length. I hope your size turns up!

Donna, thanks for posting about these, this width/height might actually work for me. It look like my size is sold out in a regular width, would you say the width was standard? Just wondering if it's worth trying narrow or just stalk the regular width and hope for returns.
The calf width info is driving me crazy. I came across a great pair of CH boots at half price, and the calf width was listed as 13'' on multiple sites, but it turned out to be at least 14.5. That was my latest big disappointment.

Thanks Angie & April.

I also have been looking for a long time. I think I ordered at least 10 pairs last year and returned each one. For me, the height has been the most difficult variable.

I'm off to look at your suggestions!

Donna, I have been on this hunt for so long it's ridiculous. I am even willing to have the right boots taken in by my cobbler -- but it's expensive to do that, so the "right boots" have to be very reasonably priced as well as comfortable to justify going to that trouble and expense.

I am currently awaiting these. If they're comfortable but too roomy in the calf, I'll have them altered. There are very positive reviews of them on Zappos, although the boots themselves are no longer available there.

I ordered these from NAS and unfortunately they don't work for me but wanted to post the info for others on the hunt.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/31.....2&P=3

The website says they are 14" tall, but in the size 7 I ordered they are 15 1/2" tall. Sadly, way too tall for me (I really need 14"). It also says the calf is 13 1/2" but my size 7 is 13 1/4" (inside measurement). They are made so they can adjust easily to a larger calf size also and would be perfect for someone who has different sizes from one leg to the other (I remember someone posting this issue very recently). There are elastic loops on the back that hook under the buttons and the piece of leather behind the area is only attached at the lower calf so the elastic loops can stretch to accommodate a larger calf and the leather behind will cover the area. It seems that this would make it possible to wear with jeans tucked in and with tights or bare legs for a skirt or dress. It's a nice looking solution for an adjustable calf.

They are a nice quality leather and if the height had been accurate I would be keeping them. On a side note, I'm frustrated because this is the second time I've ordered something (in the last month) because of the dimensions listed on Nordstrom's site that have turned out to be incorrect. The last order was for jeans and the rise was listed as 1" longer that in actuality. I really depend on the info they provide on the web because I have to travel quite a ways to get to my nearest Nordstrom's. Rant over!

I'm back on the hunt for flat riding boots with a 14" high shaft and a narrow calf. If anyone happens to see any, I'd love to hear.
