A better bootie will come along for you. I think that on the DV ones, the chunky heel exacerbates the FPE for some reason. You have a slender frame, and maybe that heel is just too overwhelming? You really wish someone would make chunky shoes that were a little more proportional to people who have smaller frames. They were very comfortable. The SA told me that he had just sold them to a mother who had brought her teenage daughter in for her first pair of heels. The mom wanted to know what would be a comfortable heel and still be fashion forward for the daughter. But like ATLynn said, Mo, these might not be your style. Although both styles are awesome, they look way too large on your lovely, delicate ankles. The "gape" seems overly large and not intentional. I say wait until you find a better fit… especially since boot season will be coming to an end very soon in Florida. That way sloped heels are much higher than they actually are. 2.25 inches is right in the middle on these Fidjis. 2.75 inches from the back. There is no way I would be walking in 2.75 inches daily. The description says 2.5", but "official" heel height is usually measured at the middle of the heel, so the actual height is more. That is one of my biggest problems with the fashion industry: why not measure heels at the back so we know how high the heel really is. I commiserate, because I have the same problem with the ankles on my booties, and I'll second Angie in recommending the Fidjis. They're the only ones I've found that don't gape like that. I have grown intolerant of that type of fit though - so take my opinion for what it is worth to you.  I have low volume feet, ankles and legs like you do. I get the problems with bootie fits. May I suggest the ones I got? They fit much closer on the ankle.
