I’m with garmenta. Perhaps what you need is a less bold contrast between the shoe and pants, Rute.

Shiny, try these:

I just purchased these booties a few days ago at DSW for the very purpose of wearing w/skinnies. I too find that pointy toes look strange w/skinnies and wanted more shoe options besides boots to tuck now that it's getting colder. Anyhow, I *LOVE* them, they are very comfortable and I'm seriously considering getting a 2nd pr. in black (although the last thing I need is another pr. of black shoes!).

I'm actually looking for a rounded toe, not a pointy one. Like the 3rd link. I have enough pointy-toed choices already. They work great with bootcuts and wider legs, but something seems off to my eye when they are worn with straight legs, and especially skinnies. Those seem to need a rounded toe?

I tried on a lot of booties that are meant to have your jeans tucked inside. I guess you'd call them "slouchy" booties? This look does me no favors. The shape makes my feet look enormous and my legs too stumpy.

Low heels combined with platforms are gorgeous but very hard to find. Yes the platform does make higher heels more comfortable, but the effect is even more noticeable with low heels. 3" heels combined with a platform are super comfy. A 1" platform shouldn't seem over the top, especially if you are bottom heavy, and/or have thick ankles or calves, even if you are petite, like me.

You guys have found some beautiful booties. I love them all. I like the platform under the sole for hieght while wearing bootcut jeans, and a chunky heel rather than the spikey one because I cannot feel balanced on those spikey heels.
Shiny the first pair you linked to are very pretty. I'd go for those if they had a chunky heel.
I also love the Softspots or Sofwalks or whatever they were called.
I really like a pointed toe and hieght under bootcut jeans.

Thanks Maya, that has always been my thought too, you expressed it well for me!

I did a little shoe shopping today but didn't buy anything. I did find some shoes that had these high heels with the platforms that were surprisingly comfy and I could walk okay in them (maybe 3 hour shoes). The platform makes it so you don't feel like you're standing on your tippy toes! But the style was blah... actually there was only ONE pair of shoes that really jumped out at me, a pair of AK oxfords/brogues with heel that are very similar to my SW booties except in a combo of black patent and black suede. Otherwise, most of what I saw was one great, big SNORE.

Okay I have to run and cook dinner - more later; can't wait to check out the links you've posted. (I was hoping for links!!)

I think the platform does help in decreasing the height of the shoe. Dunno if it'd have the same feeling as an actual 3.25" high heel, but it will probably be close. Then again, I'm only talking from experience with platform wedges, so the hidden platforms in shoes might feel different.

I also love that kind of bootie shape but prefer a heel under 2". Hard to find, but here are some ideas:

I agree with Julie. I don't like the look of ultra high heels on small feet. The angle is too steep and awkward looking. I know heel height decreases minimally as the shoe size gets smaller, but it isn't enough IMO. Also, being short kind of makes you look like you're walking on stilts if the heel is skinny. A wedge or chunkier heel seems to work better once the height increases.

I think shoe size is more important than height when looking at this equation. I'm a UK size six therefore the gradient of the angle from the heel to the sole would be less steep than on a UK size three. Does that make any sense at all?

I think the booties are gorgeous, please take heart that I would be unable to walk in them to!

I tried on the Sofft Orea bootie this weekend, and I can't get it out of my mind! (It's a sickness.) They were comfortable and very flattering. They have the v-shaped vamp and thicker heel that Sarah recommended.

I know Ana's been looking for a shorter heeled version and has had difficulty doing so.
I just purchased a pair almost identical to the ones you posted, but by Cole Haan. I planned to wear them primarily under jeans but an "expert" on Oprah yesterday said that booties like this balance out curvier body types, regardless of the individual's height. Hm.
I'm wondering if you could find something similar with a V shaped vamp and a shorter stockier heel. Maybe that would be a better proportion for your heigth?
Disclaimer: I'm completely clueless, just throwing out some thoughts.

I love this bootie shape:

http://www.shopbop.com/cover-h.....2000812867

However I can't wear heels that high. And it seems with shorter heel, it's just not the same look? Agree?

Also what is this about having a 1" platform? Does that effectively reduce the heel height by an inch, comfort-wise?

Would someone only 5'0" tall look ridiculous in shoes like this?

I have tried on somewhat similar, and because the heel is so high (unwalkably high for me), it seems to make my feet look strangely too small...
