It's not AS flattering as a chunky heel with bootcuts, but I do it sometimes. Like Sylvie, though, I wear flats that have a thick sole and are about an inch or so off the ground. I wouldn't wear ballet flats with bootcuts. I would wear skinnies or straight legs with ballet flats, however (if I owned any -- they're not my thing). </p> <p>Also, not all bootcuts are created equal -- some are narrower. I think bootcuts look fine with flats but the shoe needs to be a little substantial. An almond shaped toe ballet flat never looks right to me, however a pointy toe would look good and help elongate the leg. Those elastic-y flats work, but they're all round toed (and uncomfortable imho....I don't want TOTALLY flat shoes). However, they really only look best to my eye with pointy toe flats. </p> <p>I struggled with flats and boot cuts for years until I realized what wasn't working for me. Round flats are too abrupt a stop when you are wearing flats. With a heel, a round toe works because you've added length to your leg. With a flat, in order to add that length, I think you need pointy toes. That's my line and I'm sticking with it. </p> <p>Also, I'm sure that Angie will say that it isn't about saying no to something. If your figure flattering priority isn't highlighting long legs, then don't be weighed down by the idea that you shouldn't wear ballet flats with boot cuts! I've been wearing a pair of mid-calf cropped trousers lately that have gotten a lot of love here at YLF. I wear them happily, even though a shorter length may be even more flattering.
