I’m with Bennett . I realize that boot cuts are “new “ again , and I’m trying to work out the look I want . I don’t ever wear sneakers with jeans , ever , and don’t intend to wear them with bootcuts ( and I have a big collection of fashion sneakers too ) .Just not my look. I think they look most elegant with a bit of a heel or plat/flat form or a wedge ( a la Jennifer Aniston ) .

I find my bootcut and flare jeans are by far the hardest jeans to style. The wrong footwear makes me feel either too middle-school, too hippie, too normcore, or too cowboy. The only thing that's foolproof is grabbing a sandal, so they have become summer-only bottoms.

I feel like bootcuts are best suited to either a pointed or almond toe, or a substantial or flatform type of style. I also like a good block heeled, squarish-toed style with bootcuts. For some reason, round toes on a flat, small sole feel stumpy and not fab on me with flares/bootcuts. Here are some examples of what I wear with bootcuts.

I have always loved boot cut jeans with pointy toed boots. Now that I can't wear pointy toed boots anymore, I am trying to decide where or if boot cuts will fit into the mix for me. I have tried wearing my one pair of full length boot cuts with white sneakers, but I feel like that fell a bit flat. If I can get a pair of Docs to work for me, I might try that. Or maybe will experiment with a shorter bootcut to see how that works.

I love boot cut jeans and pants. For my personal style, I much prefer them with toe shapes that are pointy vs rounded, from flats, pumps, and ankle boots. I’d also consider a square toe shoe if the sides had some angularity. I’ve seen them look great with casual sneakers but it is too casual a look for me.

I wore all rise boot cuts almost exclusively from about 1994-2010. I'm enjoying the demi cropped version, but not ready for full length yet! I still like them best with heels, and I'm not into heels now. I find the cropped versions to be more versatile.

How about with flatform sneakers? I like my bootcuts with my black and white snakeskin slip on sneakers that have a thick white sole (so not quite a flatform but a substantial high contrast sole). It’s really clear my sneakers are fashion, not gear and that helps to my eye - I think I would feel a bit too ‘unintentional normcore’ if I wore my New Balance sneakers, even if in theory I know it’s a current look.

I'm 100% with you! Happy to have FULL LENGTH bootcut back in my life (now with a mid-rise), as of today! I plan to wear them with snake loafers, boots, mules, brogues, and although I personally have a hard time with sneakers with jeans (yes, still), I will give them a serious try.

I love my new bootcuts. I actually got them hemmed to wear with sneakers and/ or I can wear them at the new slightly shorter than before length with a heel -- so they are versatile in the way the elegant floor sweeping lengths are not.

The jeans I bought are below, and so are some of the shoes I have worn them with. Some people prefer a pointed toe with a boot cut, and it does look really sharp to my eye. But a rounded toe sneaker is fun and funky. Angie encouraged me to try it and I've enjoyed it for casual wear.

Remember, the rise is probably (hopefully!) different on the new bootcuts. This one is billed as mid-rise but it is almost at my navel. So definitely not a low-rise jean. The higher rise means the leg line is lengthened even if you are wearing flats. The leg line will be shortened with a low rise and flats.

I just read somewhere that for bootcuts to look current you should wear them with heels. The heels do not have to be very high, just not sneakers or flats.

I am also wondering this. I can't help but feel very dated in bootcuts. This is what i wore back in high school! It's much easier to style mom-jeans, balloon jeans, pleatfronts and the like. Those styles are new to me, and fresh to my eye.

My pear-shaped self is VERY happy for the return to bootcuts. It is much easier for me to find a pair of bootcuts that fit well and even flatter.

However, I am out of practice in styling bootcuts! Other than wearing the obvious -- boots, duh -- what current footwear would be appropriate? Especially for casual wear. My usual fashion sneaks (a pair of dove-gray New Balances) don't quite look right, but I can't quite pinpoint why. It's probably a proportion issue. All I know is that it reminds me of the early '00s, when I was a college student who lived in in low-rise bootcuts with a pair of Skechers.
