Rae I have the opposite problem. When I get bigger my jeans get shorter. They stay up better.

I will try Angie but I think mine are already low. My body shape is an 8 so I think that has something to do with pant slippage. It doesn't matter as much on straight legs & skinnies, though I have messed some hems up on skinnies too.

I guess the tapered trousers trending will help me if I buy trousers, but I don't like the baggy ones. I think taper without bagginess is just a skinny though.

Ah, I noticed a similar issue with my bootcuts yesterday. I could have worn a lower heel and realized my butt had gotten bigger and messed with the drape. *sympathy*

I have actually really been enjoying straights and skinnies for this very reason!

With some of my bootcuts, they start off the day just the right length, and they stretch as the day goes on and end up dragging on the ground. :-/

I wonder if semi tucking into a lower rise will help keep bootcut lengths more consistent, Elle?

High five, Elisabeth! We can only wear flared hems in dry weather in our neck of the woods.

First of all, I can sympathize about the weight fluctuation. For four years I had a huge uterine fibroid that would cause major bloat for about half my cycle, and directly affected how my pants fit. It was most annoying. (I eventually had it surgically removed, and now my bloaty days are a thing of the past. You might want to look into that -- maybe you have fibroids too? They're pretty common).

Secondly, would a belt help hold things up on your skinny days?

Thirdly, I like the way bootcuts look, but I hate hate hate wet pant hems, which I seem to get no matter how perfectly hemmed my pants are. Now I only wear bootcuts on days when it is TOTALLY DRY.

Sorry for the not terribly useful solutions, but that's all I can think of.

I'm loving the bootcut posts, inspired by Rae I think, so it got me thinking about my bootcuts. The problem with boot cuts or any wide legged pant for me is even if I only attempt to wear them with one shoe, because my heel heights all vary, the length is never right due to weight fluctuation. If I eat wheat or any of the other unidientified foods that cause me to bloat, or it is that time of the month, the pants get shorter or longer. One pair were too short for flats, which I hemmed them for on a skinny day. I've stopped buying & even wearing them most of the time because they are rarely the right length for the shoes or boots I have. They will be too long for one & too short for the other. If only my weight fluctuations matched heel height increments.
