I read this in a book written by a stylist but cannot remember who? For example, you start at mass market retailers and work your way up. It is the search for " your pants" that matters . When you find fit and quality you like whether it is Talbots or Max Mara you stop. If you find it at Old Navy all the better cause you can likely afford a top too,or accessories to elevate the look. Good hunting.</p> <p>Consignment might be worth it. Really, I'm disappointed but fine. I know I'm fighting a battle with what I need, it isn't going to be easy. I didn't really go in with very high hopes, so just sort of mildly disappointed.</p> <p>The stylist was nice, not rude...I don't think she realized what she was doing. She had misunderstood my emails about the appointment and wouldn't let me get a word in to clear it up. But I think she did bring all the options and it is just that store...as many of you say, they vary.</p> <p>Suz and Glory, I had thought of custom made and I've started a search for a seamstress. We have four Nordstroms within 10 to 30 minutes of our house. The one closest to us is very hit miss. The next closest two - one is very much my style and the other is MUCH bigger with much more upscale merchandise. The one slightly further away caters to the downtown crowd. It seems their selection varies so much from store to store from my experience with these different locations. I wonder if that's part of the problem?</p> <p>I've used my stylist twice now (and my husband used her once). Thankfully I was able to get a good match the first time, and I really connect with her. That part is critical. About the stylist, the disappointment was that she did not really listen to what I was saying and interrupted constantly so I never could feel like we had a real discussion. </p> <p>There is also the problem of what I want being so out of style...or according to Angie, just beginning to come in style, which means it won't reach my area for a few more years. Add in my health and fit problems and I didn't have high hopes.</p> <p>I wanted a pair of black trousers in bootcut or flare, with a mid rise and some room in the crotch. She had five pairs for me to try on and that was the extent of the inventory. Honestly, they had more choices at Loft. </p> <p>Of the choices she had, I half liked a pair of NYDJ ponte for comfort only. I didn't like how I looked in them and they were more of the "mini- boot" variety, so no happiness factor and not much of a solution. So I left them there and that was all. Oh well. If what I'm looking for is so out of style, maybe I should try thrifting. </p>
