Yeah Denise I realized after I thought that you were all looking at the wring article that you were venturing into other 70s territory. What I didn't realize is that you were also venturing out of boho territory. Now I get it. Yes I don't wear my babydoll top anymore & posted it on YLF to see why. Dated is why. I thought it just isn't me but wasn't sure because I don't know if I have left boho completely behind. Your explanations of which boho is still in & which isn't lets me know that there is a reason why I like some of it but not some of it anymore. Thanks:)

There is a HUGE difference between Boho style and '70s style - although boho style is predominantly from the '70s.

I like your explanation, Denise :)

Elle, there are boho elements to the styles on that slide show. I do agree with Anna, that it's more of a vintage representation rather than strictly boho.
Oh, you are right, Elle. No wonder I like Rachel Zoe stuff.

I agree, Denise, about stuff from 5-8 years ago. And also Baby Doll tops. Definitely Boho. Definitely out.
OK, I'd better explain myself. I was getting off the topic of Boho style. I was talking about 70s style which has been very popular in the 00s. 70s style has lots of Boho elements, but it also has rocker elements. I was trying to explain the type of 70s style that is still current, and the type of 70s style that looks dated to me. For example, the look of tight baby tees and flared jeans that was wildly popular in the early 00s. I was watching episodes of Gossip Girl from 2007-08 recently. The baby doll tops Blake Lively and other cast members wore looked dated to me. Often, things from 5 -8 years ago can seem the most dated, at least to me. Older than that, things start to cycle again.

Rachel Zoe is still designing 70s boho fashion. Probably because she lives in LA.

I'm not sure what pics you're all looking at. There are some that are not boho but some that are in the slide show of the Echo Park Craft fair. Is that what you 're looking at?

Oh I get it now. I was thinking Joan Jett isn't in that article & then I read through the posts. I never thought of Joan as Boho, rocker chick yes.

I never thought of Joan Jett as Boho. Hmm. Also, it occurs to me Refinery is kinda like the new face of Boho, even the Chicago edition. But anyways, I think you have nailed it, Denise. I guess I should review my closet for outdated Boho... :D
I think California in general loves Boho style more than other parts of the country.

Although Boho is still alive as a style direction, I do think that some of the 70s inspired Boho themes that were popular from 2000-2011 are looking dated. Baby doll tops, anything with an empire waist. Possibly, dramatic flares/bell bottoms (I haven't pulled mine out in over a year, and wondering what to do -- I just got them in late 2011 and then wham, flares were suddenly very "out.")

The Boho items that are still "in" are kimono style jackets, headbands, scarves, lace & crotchet, prints, long skirts, layered jewelry. Wide-brimmed hats, palazzo pants. YSL in the 70s, still in. Runaways from the 70s, dated.*

* Big exception, Joan Jett's style which has become iconic and classic.

Maybe I should hang on to my boho items. I do live in the most boho
part of LA.
