Thanks Anne, I have heard the terms short/long waisted but never understood them so I read the post you linked to and a few others on the subject. Now things are starting to make sense!

Hi Veronica. I use the top half tips from Angie's rectangle
http://youlookfab.com/2010/04/.....type-2010/

and pretty much all the pretty pear tips. They aren't that different from the hourglass ones anyway.

I also find pants harder and think that I look better in skirts and dresses.

I am personally finding that dressing my very long torso-ed/ short legged is a challenge that is greater than than my body type. Here is Angie's thread on that
http://youlookfab.com/2008/05/.....g-waisted/

Thanks everybody! I am having trouble finding what works. Right now it is trial and error. I would have never thought 'rectangular' because I am always focusing on my bottom half, which is pear-ish. I wear skirts and dresses because I have trouble finding pants that fit me so dresses and skirts are easier. I am not sure if they actually look better on me though. Should I follow rectangle guidelines for the top half? Like Anne said, I don't think I am strongly any of the shapes. But, I do like guidelines so I am looking for some rules to follow- (or else I would just buy bright colors, which I love!)

Thanks for taking more pictures, Veronica! You have super skin :0)

I agree that you and Anne have a similar body type. You are quite rectangular on top and you tend towards a pear on the bottom - but ever so slightly. I do not see hourglass actually. Does that make sense? You have a lovely athletic bod - just like Anne!

Hello and welcome! I would guess you are somewhere between those two body shapes, and at least to me it looks that it is more hourglass than pear.

Welcome to the forum Veronica. I see some similarities with my body;Like me you you have quite a long torso and some thigh fullness but with a relatively strong shoulderline. I suspect you are not strongly whatever shape you are (I am not sure) which can make it easier for you to dress in a variety of styles.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I have been reading the blog & forum for a while but am just now joining in. I took more pictures with hands out, is this any better?

Another welcome from me too, Veronica!

I'm finding it hard to make an accurate assessment because your hands are covering the contour of your thighs in the photograph. Think you can take another picture - hands to the side?

I always thought I didn't qualify as an hourglass because I don't have a mega-defined waist, either. But apparently I'm an hourglass/rectangle. My hunch is that you are, too.

And welcome, by the way!

Veronica- I totally relate... I am an hourglass but I don't have a super defined waist either. Most of us are a combination of shapes. You can be an hourglass without a super defined waist and you just need to tweak the guidelines to accomodate for that. You might say yor are a straight-ish hourglass.

In the end, it boils down to trial and error... once you've determined that something just doesn't work for you, move on and you eventually get better at honing in on your best silhouettes.

Thanks queenie! I wasn't sure since I don't feel like my waist is defined, I will go look at the hourglass "how to" and get some pointers!

Not sure if I am an hourglass or pear. Hips/thighs are always determining what I can wear so I would think pear. Is this right?
Sorry for the bad picture, just realized my leggings are not sitting evenly- oops! They like to ride up on my calves.
