I echo everything said above. You have a gorgeous figure and you should be showing it off. There's basically nothing that you can not wear. And I envy you on your height!

Sometimes when you are only used to seeing yourself in loose baggy clothes that do not show off your figure, you feel very uncomfortable in anything form fitting. Trust us, you have a really great figure. And your height makes you ideal for showcasing clothing beautifully. In other words, you have a model shape for wearing clothes. You can wear long skirts (most women can't), you can wear volume on either top half or bottom half, so long as you keep the other half fitted. Get used to seeing your shape in some clothes that show your shape. You will be amazed at how many compliments you will start to receive. Most women, (myself included) would KILL for your figure!

Maya said it perfectly and I echo her sentiments, exactly.

Boho/Romantic does not have to mean baggy and oversized, that doesn't look good on anyone. I used to be extremely Boho/Romantic/Preppy-Classic and like you, all my tops were just very blousy and didn't really have any shape. They made me look much heavier, shorter, and out of proportion than I really am. I have learned to incorporate tailored, well-fitted garments into my wardrobe that have some elements of romance to them (ie, a crisp, tailored shirt with a ruffled collar, a funky flowered belt, etc). Blousy shirts can be made more flattering with belts and the right accessories.

Maya is really good at tailored Bohemian, her suggestions are worth taking a look at.

Trillium, most women would kill for your shape and your waist! You should be happy you have such a great bod. You're doing yourself (and your friends and family) a huge disservice by hiding under baggy clothes.

It seems like you think tailored styles and boho/flowy styles are at odds with each other, but they're not. Look at Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie. FP and Anthro might be out of your price range, but they have the tailored boho look you seem to be looking for.

And let me also say that even if you were a rectangle or any other shape, shapeless garments are ALWAYS a no. They do not look good on anyone of any shape or size.

I'm barely under six feet tall. I live in a rural area outside a small college town so my clothes vary from very casual for at home to nice casual for work and somewhere in-between for running errands.

I was afraid that you would confirm that I'm an hourglass shape, I've suspected it for a while. Of all the shapes it's the one I'd least rather be as I'm allergic to fitted waists-- I doubt any of my friends or family could make an accurate guess at my waist's size since they've never seen it.

I agree with Nicole that you are an hourglass shape and she asks some great questions. That will help us make recommendations that would be more useful to you.

You have a great shape. I'd say hourglass. Your skirt's too long. How tall are you? What's your lifestyle like? Do you work? SAHM? Student?

Hello all,

I've spent my whole life wearing very large and shapeless clothing, but I am tired of looking like a walking laundry heap and so am trying to reform myself. It's not easy. I am not sure exactly what body type I am, my shoulders and hips are proportional, my bust is small, but I do have something of a waist. Am I more of a rectangle or hourglass?
http://img.photobucket.com/alb.....3/2041.jpg

I think my style persona would be something like a conservative/romantic/bohemian-- I would rather wear drapey/flowy things than very tailored or fitted styles, but how to keep from looking sloppy and shapeless? If anyone could make any recommendations of things that might suit me (pictures would be very helpful) I would be most grateful.
