Mix and match the rules. Trial and error. I mix hourglass with rectangle. There is method to the madness.

Looks like you've already got the hang of it

Thanks for the help, ladies. I'm kind of confused though: if I'm an hourglass with inverted triangle tendencies, should I dress for/follow the rules for the hourglass part of me? Or should I mix and match rules for both body types?

Thanks for the pics, Katie. I’d say a straight-ish hourglass with inverted triangle tendencies. You have a very strong shoulder line. Does that make sense?

I'll also say hourglass, maybe with a light tendency towards inverted triangle.

Shoot, I hope I can remember my measurements. Um, I know my waist is 26, I think hips 36. Ack, I'll have to remeasure.

Katie, what are your measurements? I think you look like an inverted triangle. You have a nice, strong shoulder line that extends beyond your hips. I can also see hourglass tending toward rectangle, as well.

Love the bathtub in the background. Looks luxurious!

In pants I'm usually a size 4 (or 27), and on top I'm either an XS or S (depending on brand). If the top's size is numeric, I think I usually wear a 2.

Both of this year's swimsuits (2 pieces) are the same size top and bottom, but in the past I have worn a larger size on bottom than on top (which is always a small, no getting around that!).
