Congrats on taking the plunge to find your body type! Scary I know, but it is a good feeling to know and not feel so overwhelmed when trying to dress your body correctly!

Wow, thanks everybody SO MUCH for the welcome!

You know, I've been on the fence for quite some time about if/how I was going to post outfit pictures (how often? show my face? etc), but it seemed like getting my body type nailed down needed to be the first order of business. It's just so unfortunate that I have to wear such fitted and unflattering clothes to do it!

And also thanks to Angie and Greg for creating a forum where people feel safe and welcomed to post pictures. I thought I'd had myself pegged as an IT, but it wasn't until I started going through the numerous pictures that all you real (and brave!) women have posted I wanted a second opinion. I can't believe I posted pictures of myself on the internet ... and it feels great!

/me trots off happily, humming.

Yay for Team IT! I'm not a secondary hourglass anymore, sadly. You look incredibly fit and have some of my same body proportions - am looking forward to more IT input.

Definitely hourglass with strong shoulders and you look about equal between you legs and torso. You look very similar to my proportions. My shoulders are 41 inches, waist 29, and hips 38. I'm 67 inches tall and the distance between the widest part of my hips to the ground is 34, almost exactly half.

I use to be self conscious about my shoulders, thinking I looked like the farm girl I was. I appreciate their strength now, but sometimes it's difficult to dress without looking top heavy which makes me feel a little too masculine.

Geez Louise, you have a great figure! I say hourglass. Personally I love strong shoulders--they make the waist appear smaller and give that lovely vee-taper in the back.

I agree with Anne.. you have a wonderfully defined waistline! I'd say maybe dress with the hourglass guidelines keeping the IT in mind also as to not overemphasize your shoulder line,

Hi Charmian,

Congrats on taking the plunge!
I think you are an hourglass with IT tendencies and that your self diagnosed modifiers are correct..

Well, ladies and gents, I've decided to take the plunge and participate in the YLF "hazing ritual" of submitting a poorly-lit photo of myself in unflatteringly tight clothing and asking for help in identifying my body type. ;)

A long time ago, on a different website, I self-diagnosed myself as an inverted triangle due to my shoulder : hip ratio. Now that I've had a chance to participate on the forum here a bit more, I'm wondering if I've made a mis-diagnosis!

So, folks (and Angie): what body type do I have? And would you say that my self-dianosed modifiers (ie, short legged, short waisted, long ... err ... risen?) are also accurate?

Thanks for your advice! I look forward to dressing -- and photographing -- myself more flatteringly!
