Welcome, Cobalt, looks like you already got some good advice on bodytype. I think you will be looking super-fab in no time.
ETA: I mean dressing-wise. Body-wise I think frankly you are a lucky girl and will find it easy to identify flattering styles. I don't think you are huge of bust, but I know what you mean. As soon as you are more than a B/C cup it is like anything tailored was not cut with you in mind.

Thank you!

You have a beautiful body. It's a very slim hourglass - bordering on rectangle. You can start by using both sets of guidelines

Vix, Thank you for your insight. I have a feeling you may be onto something, especially with regard to my lack of booty.

Angie, Thanks for the welcome! I have rotated the photos, so please look at them again if you get the chance.

Welcome, CobaltBlue!

While we wait for the expert, I'm going to put in my vote: Rectangle.

By the numbers, you're an hourglass (as am I, which caused me to buy a lot of unflattering things when I started trying to figure out what flattered my shape) and you do of course have a very SMALL waist.

But as you noted, looking at you straight on you have little indentation between ribcage and hipbone -- and looking at you from the side you have more of a gentle slope than a rounded caboose. ;)

I think your own personal proportions would be super-easy to play up as an Hourglass if you wanted to go that route. Just be wary of skirts that are designed to accommodate curvy hips (side-to-side and back) -- IME they tend to fall depressingly flat when one's hips are less pronounced!

Welcome, Becky! You're going to enjoy it here. :-)

I agree with the ladies - you *do* look like an hourglass, with inverted triangle tendencies.

So - overhauling your entire wardrobe, eh? Sounds like fun!

I would say hourglass with inverted triangle tendencies (or maybe inverted triangle leaning toward hourglass--it's tough to completely assess the difference between your shoulders/bust and hips because of your stance in the photos). I don't really understand why you say your waist isn't defined--it is obviously smaller than your chest and hips and looks defined to me.

Thanks, Queen Mum. That makes two votes for hourglass. How likely is it that Angie herself will chime in? I really want to get this right! Also, how can I add the pictures to the body of my post instead of just a link. Thanks for the help!

I'm guessing you are an hourglass as well. You don't have to have a super defined waist to be considered hourglass necessarily. You do have a great figure though! Welcome to the forum. BM is right, we have a great time here

Biscuitsmom, Thank you for the comment. I used to think that I was an hourglass, but now I don't think I have that really defined waist that I see in photos of others... I'll be interested to see if others agree with you!
And thanks for the welcome. I am tired of looking the way I do and ready to do something about it. I think I've come to the right place.

Hi, I've been reading the blog and forum and am excited to get started. I need to totally overhaul my wardrobe. Almost everything is too big or worn out. I get overwhelmed quickly when shopping and need to figure out my body type so that I can select things that are more likely to work before I try them on. Usually I try on a ton of things, find nothing, and leave frustrated.

I feel like my bust is huge. Tops usually pull there. My waist measurement isn't huge, but in the photos it looks like I have no waist.

I'm 27 years old, and I think my height is around 5'4". I weight about 119. My measurements are:
shoulders: 37 (but I don't feel like they look big on me. Maybe they slope?)
bust: 34-36 (nursing an 8.5 month-old!)
under bust: 28
waist: 27
hips: 34.5
lower hip/thigh area: 36

Guesses I've heard are rectangle, X, and lollipop. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Trying to add links to pictures. Let me know if it doesn't work. Sorry they're sideways, but my family is right here, and I don't want anyone else to see these photos, so I can't turn them now.
