In my opinion you look like straightish hourglass to me, which is what I am ;), I also have slight saddlebags which can sometimes make me look slightly pearish without being a pair.

Angie: I am actually quite bow legged, but I tried again, squeezing my legs together this time (I inherited my dad's horse rider physique!)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/4.....507656453/

Thanks again! I do see in this picture more pear tendencies. I don't know if this helps: I am at the lower end of my typically body weight, but I tend to gain it all over (upper arms, hips, thighs, face, tummy, chest) when I gain a few.

you know, as I looked through your outfits in your blog, I'm seeing some pear tendencies. Looking at your silhouette, I see a bit of hourglass. Maybe you're an hourglass with pear tendencies.

Good question, Kim. I typically follow all three (rectangle, pear, and hourglass), but I also enjoy surrendering the waistline.
Daligirl, that's nice of you to say. I have a 31" inseam, however, which I am quite sure is short for my height (5' 7 1/2").

Seeing all the lovely pictures of the hourglasses (and reading their modifiers) makes me wonder what my body type is.
Here's why, despite my high degree of self scrutiny, I have difficulty deciding:
Inverted triangle:
My shoulders the broadest part of my body, making woven shirts difficult to fit (but I am not that leggy, which makes me think this is not less likely)
Hourglass: I have a 10" difference between my hips and waist
Rectangle: I have only a 10" difference between my hips and waist. I have a small bust and bum.
Pear: I have a small bust, and my bust measurement (35) is smaller than my hips (36). My legs are not as slender as my arms (I have quite athletic legs).
I've historically thought I was a long torso-ed hourglass with pear tendencies. I thought my body was most similar to some one like Keira Knightley (not as slender), Claire Danes, or Mischa Barton- who are all longer torsoed, on the taller side, and seem to carry more weight on their lower bodies. But all my dress making and sewing books tell me that I am a rectangle or a pear.

Thoughts?
