Carter, I can't wait to see your outfits! I am so glad to hear it runs true to size… hopefully it will work in the waist for me, but I can always leave it open. I will do a K/R as well.

I bought this today! I will model for K/R and see what everyone thinks of it with a couple outfits later this week. It ran true to size. I normally go up one in a blazer so I can move my arms. This one was good through the shoulders. I would have preferred another inch in the waist, but I'll have the button moved if it bugs me. The size up was really big all over.

Glory, Lyn, and Tracy thank you andwise words! I am definitely going to give this blazer a try. I think it would be a good addition and yes, would work in the ac. I'm excited and hope it works.

Don't you have blasting cold air conditioning that would make this wearable for the season? It's a fabulous color and unlike sweaters offers more structure. I am a stay at home mother but I love jackets and blazers and make them work for my lifestyle. Adjusting to weight gain is never easy ,be kind to yourself.

OMG, we have almost the same measurements and body type: hourglass (the shoulders.are as broad or bit broader than hips) with only some apple tendencies in the middle for you, much more relevant for me (as my rear is flat:-)). Anyway, the blazer is great color, cut and length shoudl work fab on your figure!

I think the jacket looks lovely. It would be great to throw on over tshirts, blouses and the like and would wear well with blue jeans, white jeans etc. Perfect in A/C. I am another vote for ordering and trying it on. I just purchased a very similar one in navy (with lining).

I am no good with body shapes but I would say that if you feel the love for that blazer(which, by the way, is gorgeous) I would go for it. I have the same teal one as Deb and I think it will accommodate your figure nicely.Just make sure that the button doesn't hit too low so that it gaps on top.

Lisa, thank you. I do love dark pink and berry shades. They usually work with my skin tone.

Golden, thank you very much.

Dana, so kind. Thank you. I agree completely. Baggy or flawy doesn't work on me. I wish it did since "flowy" is everywhere.

Fastest, you have a great figure! Not big!! You appear to be really fit. I'd agree that you're an hourglass with apple tendencies. While you may feel bigger than when you were younger, I think the best thing you could do for yourself is not wear things too flowy or baggy. Experiment with highlighting your waist.

The pink jacket is fab, although it looks like it could be hot in FL except in AC.

Thank you so much for the helpful replies. I think I will have to purchase it, and maybe throw in an unlined knit blazer (thank you Laura) as well and try them on.

I think as I age I am thicker in the middle (weight gain or not) and less hourglass.

Thanks again for the comments and advice. I will post pics as soon as blazers arrive.

We have very similar measurements and height, so I know the challenges that can ensue - I would say you're probably a hourglass / slight pear, with perhaps some apple tendencies in the middle. I would think that blazer might work well; Vince Camuto is long enough for me (I have a long torso) so that's good, and the color is lovely. The one button stance is likely to be very flattering if it hits you at the right spot. My only hesitation is that it's lined and dry clean only, which might be a bit too much fuss for a casual lifestyle and too warm for Florida. I have seen some unlined knit blazers out there -Target has some - so that's worth considering too.

I could see a blazer like that one or Deb's working nicely for you. I think you just have to try it -- and perhaps lots of other blazers -- on! I think blazers are tricky -- it's not always easy to get a proper fit in shoulders, arms, bust, waist, and hip. Most of us just aren't made with standard measurements, you know?

As for body type, I'm no expert, but perhaps hourglass with apple tendencies? I do NOT see "big" but I understand how that feels. In my experience, getting clothes that fit you beautifully helps us see our bodies in a kinder light.

I am terrible with body shapes, but I had to chime in to say that the color on this blazer is absolutely killer! I think I'm going to have to get it too, and I don't even wear blazers anymore. The color would be a knock out on you. So hope it works for you!

You'll have to try on if course but it looks like a good choice. Single button is good. Stance is not low, but medium, and you might wear unbuttoned. The color looks great for casual outfits for spring and summer. I hope it works!

Our bodies are very similar but I think my shoulder line is stronger. I am not good a determining body type so I will leave that to the experts. I am rectangle with apple tendencies and I have this jacket in two colors. It is very slimming and looks good with jeans, slacks, skirts, just about any bottom. I hope this helps.

I know jackets and blazers can elevate your style and add that essential layering piece to pull an outfit together. I love the look of jackets and blazers, however I currently own zero jackets. I recently got rid of my one and only jacket (olive green safari-esque jacket without a lapel) because it's not that flattering since gaining 20 lbs.

My question: I'm thinking of purchasing this dark pink blazer. I will have to order it without trying it on. I would order a size 14. I am not 100% sure if this style is great for my body type or practical now that warm weather is here to stay in Florida. I know the color is not the most versatile but I do like it. I live a casual lifestyle and do not need blazers or jackets for work. I work as a nurse in a rehab environment and while I do wear "real" clothes, I usually wear cardigans, dress pants, khakis and polos, and occasionally scrubs.

My measurements:

Height: 5'9"
Bust: 41, D cup
Waist: 36
Hips: 44.5

I used to think I was a full hourglass. Nowadays I'm not so sure. What is my body type? All I see is "big". ;-) Any advice on what kind of jacket would be appropriate for my body type, or any other suggestions, are appreciated!
