Mochi, ManidipaM – Thank you both so much for your kind and encouraging words. I need to work on being kind to myself and calming the negative thoughts that run through my head when I look in the mirror. It's hard!

Manidipa, I think you're right that my shoulders are just slightly wider than my hips – I should take my measurements for sure.

Thank you all again.. So happy I discovered this community!!

R, you have a beautiful body that does not want to be hidden in sweatshirts day in and day out!

Yes, a very slim apple looks the dominant type --- so much so that your appleness disappears in profile. I'm wondering, though, whether you're standing at a slight angle to the mirror or the camera in that last photo --- I think I see a suggestion of shoulders a little broader than your slim hips. Would that be correct, do you think? If yes, that makes the other half of your 'hybrid' an inverted traingle (IT) rather than a rectangle.

From another relative newbie and rectangular apple, welcome to YLF! Hope you'll have fun sharing your style journey with us.

Thank you!! It's a relief to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't fit exactly into one single body type.

Hi and welcome! I'm not an expert at this but you might be a slim apple. I think I see some rectangle tendencies too, so you could check out Angie's recommendations for both. Let's see what everyone else says. Some of us are *hybrids*, lol!

Hey everyone! I discovered this site today and am inspired to make some progress in my own "Style Journey." I just started an awesome new job and I want to start wearing clothes that reflect that (instead of my predictable daily jeans and tshirt – And I usually throw on a sweatshirt the second I get home – Anything to hide my trouble spots!).

I've always considered my body to be kind of oddly shaped and would love your advice. I'm thinking apple? My weight gathers in the belly / love handle / upper thigh area and I think I'm kind of short-waisted. But lets be honest, I really don't know.

I don't think I ever learned what clothes are right for my body and just resort to tshirts and sweatshirts because nothing really ever feels great, and I get discouraged shopping and usually quit without finding anything!

I appreciate your help... You have no idea!

http://i1068.photobucket.com/a.....AG0110.jpg

(Not sure how to upload photos from here, I just linked to them instead)
