Thank you for all of your helpful comments and suggestions! I will keep them in mind. My apologies for not replying earlier...I had almost forgotten I had made this post!
It's always helpful to get an outer perspective because sometimes it's difficult to see ourselves as we are. And thank you Diane G for the links!

I think the definition of an IT is simply that shoulders are wider than hips (?). I think you can have a defined waist, but it is not as common...

I also see a gentle hourglass shape. You have a fab figure and could basically wear any styles that tickle your fancy and you'll look great! Have a think about what sorts of looks really appeal to you. Maybe you could trawl through the main blog archives and find articles that Angie has written about 'defining your style'. These two are pretty good to get you started

http://youlookfab.com/2012/01/.....e-persona/

http://youlookfab.com/2012/01/.....y-are-not/

You could also browse Pinterest or other blogs for inspiration too. Good luck!

IT here, saying that IMHO you have far too defined a wast to be an IT. You have the defined shoulders, to be sure, but then you curve in and out again. An IT has the shoulders and then -- straight lines all the way.

So yes, I agree with hourglass, but I would say "gentle hourglass" because your waist-to-hip curve is not as extreme as some hard-to-fit ladies have.

From a true rectangle/IT: You have a nipped in little waist! If I had that, I'd be wearing my jackets belted, slim fitted tops with higher waisted bootcuts and flares, and . . . well . . . just about anything!

I agree with Gigi: I'd say you are a borderline IT, with shoulders only slightly wider than your hips. With such a neat figure and that lovely, defined waist, I think you should be able to wear most things successfully.

Well look at you very Audrey Hepburn type figure definitely not a boyish Shape at all you have a lovely figure maybe keep tops that show of your tiny waist with more of a flow to the bottom half. Flaps on pockets of jeans can make the bottom look a little bigger patterns on the top can make you look a bit more curvy pencil skirts should look good

I guess I will be the spanner and say that you are an IT with a defined waist like an hourglass.

I'm terrible with suggestions for clothing, unfortunately. I do know that if you want a feminine look, you will want to stick with pieces that have some type of waist definition. If you wear a looser top, it will need to either have a band at the bottom or else be nipped in a bit at the waist. I have some drapey tops that are nipped in at the waist, and they are very flattering, despite my small bust.

I know nothing of dresses, so I can't offer any suggestions. I am one or two sizes larger on bottom than on top, so dresses never fit me. :(

If you are shorter than average, you might want to look at petites' clothing to make sure that the waist on the tops is at the right spot, further accentuating the waist.

Welcome to the forum!

You are a neat hourglass. I can see you're short waisted and have a long rise like I do. Bootcut jeans work well for me and I'm betting you can rock them, too. Hourglasses look great in V necklines; also scoop necklines. Avoid crew necks and turtlenecks.

Speaking as an IT, I think you're a slim hourglass - looks like you maybe have a long inseam and are shortwaisted, with a high hip? You will look amazing in bootcut jeans with those legs!

Hello!

As you can see in the pictures, I'm an IT, but I feel I have a secondary body type as well. Probably rectangle/vase shape? (My waist is crooked from scoliosis.)
https://i.imgsafe.org/7b2cc44.jpeg
https://i.imgsafe.org/b79d6e7.jpeg
https://i.imgsafe.org/efdbd1c.jpeg

If you have any styling or outfit suggestion, please don't hesitate to share! I've always felt I have a boyish silhouette, and I'd like to look more feminine when I get dressed. As clothing today tends to be quite loose and boxy, I don't want to look outdated if I wear more feminine pieces. Thus, how could I create a more balanced and feminine silhouette while still looking up to date? (I have very small breasts and bum too.)

Also I would love to hear your suggestions for a maxi/midi dress for my shape. I'm looking to purchase a custom made long cotton day dress, but am still determining which neckline, length, loose or fitted, straight or flare skirt, etc. Something that is very versatile and easy to wear.

Thank you for your help!
