Yes, you are a beautiful jhourglass. And kudos to you for breastfeeding. I nursed each of my DDs for at least 18 months, until they were ready to be weaned to a cup. It's a healthy thing to do for you and for your baby.

Hour glass, for sure. I think also, you have a long torso, relative to your legs and having nothing to do where your waist is. That is, I think a lot of your height comes from your body and not your legs.

Myself, my height is all from the leg and I've a pretty short torso. Like some started to squash me and stopped! hehe!

You look like me, only with toned arms and legs (which reads as 'better' lol). Oh, I have bigger boobs though. I consider myself an hourglass with IT tendencies, since my hips are not that wide (like yours, which are just not pear-like at all), and I have a strong shoulderline (again like yours).

@ La Francaise: Well I'll stay OT because I LOVE what you do in the real world. When I was reading your last reply I literally starting laughing out loud (in happiness) because I thought it was so great. I'm a freelance writer and I recently decided to specialize in writing about pregnancy, birth, and motherhood as well as general women's heath topics. I think what YOU do is absolutely wonderful and you are definitely one special lady.

You look like a beautiful athletic hourglass to me too! And I'm envious of that tiny waist. I breast fed my daughter for longer than the year too, and my waist didn't start even nudging back until I weaned, what waist I have that is, which ain't much! ; ) I am (and will always be) a happy rectangle/apple. You look beautiful!

Hopelessly off thread, but when I'm not a Parisian Gynae/obs, I'm doing public health for Doctors without Borders (MSF), where my specialty is maternal and child health. In the developing world, it's critical to breastfeed (along with solids, of course) for at least two years. It's rare to find anyone in the developed world who does 20 months though, so yet more respect!! You're really special, don't forget it.

@ La Francaise: Okay I believe it I believe it! When I reread my post I realized that it did seem a little overly critical of myself but I assure you I'm not. I've always been pretty happy with my body and after giving birth I absolutely love what my body was capable of doing. My style, or lack of it, on the other hand... yes I'm critical of that! LOL.

Thank you ladies for your help. I guess I have to believe it if everyone says it. Yes my shoulders are wide and they were always what threw me off. I thought since I had a small bust and larger hips that it meant I was automatically a pear shape. You learn something new everyday.

Oh and thank you for the compliments as well. My daughter is actually 20 months. I'm extended nursing with her but hope to have her off by two. So not exactly a newborn no but thank you anyways.

Wide shoulders, wide (a little less, actually!) pelvis and a definite waist --- yep, that's an hourglass! An athletic hourglass that should be an inspiration to your daughter growing up.

I'd say you're a very pretty hour-glass!! Which, take it from an old-hand gynae/obs (well part-time, at least), is no mean feat shortly after giving birth! You look in great shape, and your exercising is almost certainly one of the reasons, so stop being so critical of yourself, cos you're doing great

First off, hi everyone! I’m having a lot of fun reading through the forum and past blog posts. I’m hoping to really hone down my personal style and have fun dressing again. I know YLF can help me with that.

The first thing I figured out I should do is find my body shape… not as easy as it sounds. I always thought I was pear shaped since my thighs and butt were always larger than my bust. Now I’m a little unsure.

I made my hubby take a picture and when I was trying to determine my shape I felt like my shoulders looked to be the same size as my hips. Also since I’m still nursing my daughter the girls are a lot bigger… but they won’t be this way forever. Already they’re shrinking down as I work on getting her weaned. I tend to have a thicker waist… I never had the cute tiny waist that I associate hourglass shapes with and after baby it’s a little thicker and my tummy is a lot mushier. Also my butt shrunk! So can anyone tell me what shape I am? I always thought of my body type as an athletic pear and now… hmmmm. I’m lost! I admit I may be making this harder than it needs to be and analyzing a little too much. Can ya’ll take pity on a girl and help me out?! :)

Oh and please excuse the outfit, lack of makeup, and messy hair. Gym day!
