Thank you Lyn. I do so agree. I am now looking forward to wearing the jacket and feel pleased to have kept it.

Isabel, that is so true, texture and light reflecting materials do make a difference. I tried on some pricey Club Monaco trousers and couldn't quite commit to them because of the light reflecting off them. But the Boden ponte feels more me, and were less pricey.

The luminosity and plushness of the velvet, and the embroidered texture of the blue grey blouse are exactly the kind of things that can make those dark colors wearable for me.

So often deep shades and black can be too light absorbing and flat near the face and it seems like texture just makes all the difference!

Love the green(IS BEST OF ALL), the navy and the first red blouse, with the pleats, too! Patterned panst are too thin and fluid for the structured jacket which you have to keep as perfect fit!

DO keep Tux :)

I'm with Isabel. Most flattering and in your comfort zone are #2, 4 and 5. The forest green is a magical colour on you, Jane. All gorgeous and great for work.

Return both red blouses and the patterned pants. You can do better.

Loving the look of the animal print and belt that are on the way. Bust line looks smashing too.

Thank you Bijou. I have taped up the Boden package and feel very much better as a result. I am happy returning the blouses because they aren't quite right and just too big largely (they are UK size 6). I kind of get in a pickle / panic and then order things that are okay in my eye but not items that I love.

On the jacket, I have tried it on again, and actually feel happier with it and have kept it. I completely agree with you on jackets. They are workhorses for me too. I have one which I am completely in love with (Club Monaco) and another one which is cute (puffy shoulders). So a third is helpful especially for smarter weekend events and sometimes for work.

I have just ordered these two items, which I think may add more than the items I have just returned. The animal print blouse, may be good for home and work, and will work with white boots and black trousers. The belt is bordeaux coloured, and may look good with my skirts. Lets see!

You have picked some lovely items from Boden here, I especially like the blue and green blouses. I agree with the others that the red blouses seem too big - could you size down in the patterned red blouse?

As for the black blazer, it looks like a good fit. It is often hard for black blazers to have a wow factor, as they don't photograph well. Black is probably the most represented colour in my work wear. A tailored black suit is always going to be something that gets worn by me, working in a corporate environment. When buying black jackets / blazers because I know they will be complete work horses, I want to love them. It really is worth spending that bit extra to get one that feels special. So with this one, I am a bit on the fence with it. I like that it exactly matches your pants, you now have the perfect suit. However, the fact that you don't love it, makes me think it may be better to wait for "the one" to come along.

Tux the cat is completely adorable.

Cardiff Girl, thank you, that is helpful. I am kind of in two minds about the jacket, I got it with a good discount and I can't quite decide if I am buying it as an option, but my heart isn't quite in it IFYKWIM. The coral one, I agree, too much fuss. On the colouring, I also agree, scarfs and jewellery are key.

Ms Maven, thank you, 6 does look pretty bad, but yes, it could look good, but I don't think it is for me, really. The green is good.

The jacket looks good to me from what I can tell. I like the first 2 blouses, especially the green one. The red ones not so much. # 6 reminds me of the blouses my Mom wore in the 50s & 60s, but it might look great under a 3rd layer.

The jacket looks good ,if you need the full suit as it were with the trousers for work.My only caveat is the colour l don’t think black is easy to wear next to the face when you have delicate Celtic colouring bout you could always use scarfs ,jewellery etc.I love the blue and the green tops on you, don’t like the first coral one, there’s too much fuss on the front for my taste but I like the one with the ballet shoes on.lts a lovely colour on you .Oh and I like the cat,l m glad that he’s non returnable.

Cute pants! It’s also hard to see details of darker fabrics, but the jacket looks great, from what I can tell. Love the blue and green blouses on you. Both the red ones seem quite voluminous in the waist- not sure I’d keep either unless you really love them. (Then again, the waist isn’t visible in the pics of the blue and green ones, so it’s hard to compare them.) Good luck deciding!

Dear Fabbers, I would really appreciate your help. On a lovely YLF mini meetup with CardiffGirl I tried on the patterned ponte trousers in Boden and although a bit full on for me, the fit was great. So I have the black pair and love them. There were various other pieces that I ordered with them.

The matching ponte jacket, shown, is this good? I am not entirely sold on it, but mainly because I need a second opinion - it would need to be for work -

Then three blouses, a blue / grey which I like (colour especially); green silk (okay I think?) and then the red / coral (returning?).

Then a fourth blouse, with a print on (keeping, I think)

Then the cat, Tux! (not for returning!)

All comments most welcome. Thank you for looking.
