Thanks all. I suspect the navy would be the best one to try, as suggested. Honestly, people seem to wear everything these days no matter the venue or event, so I think it will come down to how *I* feel in the dress, assuming it fits.

La Ped, I am aiming for smart casual as I think it will fall in the middle of what most people will probably wear to these kinds of occasions here, during the day.

To be clear, I would not wear this dress to a wedding!

Phoebes are everyday summer dresses for me. I tend to dress a bit more formally than the norm here and I would probably choose something more structured for the events mentioned but the dress would be quite within what is acceptable. The prints are cheerful and capture the mood of showers and I have a theory that any plain navy dress can be made, with appropriate accesories, serviceable for nearly any occassion.

I have this dress, and I also live in a warm climate. I would wear the dress to church, but not to baptisms, and don’t think it would be dressy enough for your listed events to suit my taste. Also, it’s a fairly thick dress, so super hot days I would probably not wear this because I would find it runs too hot for me. I do run hot in general. YMMV.

They look quite casual to me, more of a casual weekend dress, but agreeing that it depends. Definitely not for a wedding, but maybe the others?

I would find it too casual for those kinds of events in a print (or at least in the print I own) but would try it in a solid (navy) with dressier footwear and accessories. The dress would just be backdrop in that case. It would be really versatile because you could add different toppers (e.g. denim jacket or light pretty kimono) etc.

Totally agree that it depends on your environmental norms. It would totally work for my area for all of the occasions mentioned.

For me it would be fine for the events you list, but of course it depends on environmental norms. Are you aiming for smart-casual attire, or do you need something a step up from that?

It is cotton jersey, but the drape/heft of the fabric and the tailoring make it a bit more elevated than your standard t-shirt dress. I could see adding a metallic sandal and a drape-y blazer or moto jacket and feeling pretty spiffy.

I'd say the Phoebe is in casual or smart-casual territory, so if others are wearing more formal attire you might feel out of place. It is a great little dress though. I highly recommend it if there's a print you like!

I have Phoebe in white with small print and find it casual, I don’t wear it to work. Not sure if solid color would help.

Hi everyone...I know the Phoebe dress from Boden is popular here. Those of you who have it, do you think it can be dressy enough for spring/summer events like baptisms, wedding and baby showers, and (daytime) high school/college graduations? Assuming a subdued print or solid color, and appropriate shoes or sandals and jewelry, will it work for these types of events?

Once it starts to get steamy here, I find anything non-cotton gets really uncomfortable quickly, especially outside or in non-airconditioned venues.
