Thank you again all! You have given me the confidence to give it a try. Ok, I will start stalking Christina F and Jane. And Angie, that is an extremely kind offer.

Leslie, I think I am the more extreme version of you - waist 28, hips 42. It does sound like the straight cuts are, as always, going to be an issue for me - sigh. I like the idea of spanx, and the dress you posted for yourself is lovely!

I just want to apologise if I have been using the word 'curvy' in the wrong way, I meant it to describe proportions rather than a size range. Oops.

Anyway, I had better get to work, but now that I have discovered how amazingly easy the find tool is, I thought I'd post the items I like. The pink dress is my fave.

I am a petite that is loving Boden’s petite line. But I have the opposite issue — broad shoulders and chesty and narrow hips. But I see quite a few styles that would be beautiful on a pear as long as you are in Boden’s petite size range. They really should expand their range beyond 10/12.

Yes I am also in awe of how amazing Suz looks in her Boden gear.l m not sure who Boden designs for(most retailers have a “typical “customer in mind. For example a retailer I worked for designed everything for a 5ft 6 uk size 12 pearshaped woman then they just scale up or down from there.)It would be really fascinating to know! Can I suggest Jane as another Source of info on Boden fitting a petite woman?

I have similar proportions and find Boden’s cuts don’t fit my bust and short-waist well. The jersey dresses always have a waist seam that is not super obvious in photos that rides low. Their tops work well for me. I usually take a 6/8.

I do have a few curvy petites who enjoy Boden, Styledetective. It's very dependent on the silhouette.

All: Garment measurements are back at Boden. I believe it was a website re-design with a truncated rollout.

I have had the best luck with fit-and-flare dresses and skirts. I have waist 29 inches and hips 40 inches, so I float between 8P and 10P. When I have bought straighter-skirted dresses, I have to go up to a 10 and hope for the best. I am also short-waisted, so every time I go up a size for my hips, I have to deal with excess fabric under my arms.

Boden's Josephine, below, is typical of their straighter dresses: a very slim skirt. I ordered an 8P and will make it work, with Spanx...because the top half is perfect. The bottom half shows all in silhouette!

@Suz #4 looks so good! How come you didn't keep :(
Seconding looking at Christinas posts- she has a lot of luck with Boden!
I haven't tried them yet- waiting for conker color to appear at Nordies, instead of risking return shipping and long wait for $ back if things don't work.

Hi, I'm a curvy petite also, 5'1". Last summer I tried a few Boden petite dresses and found they were all too tight in the largest petite size they carry. I think the cut could have been ok if they just carried one more size. I generally wear a 10P or 12P in other brands. I didn't try any other items like sweaters or pants. I also saw in a forum posting a few weeks ago by La Pedestrienne that Boden has stopped posting garment measurements. I'm in the US and might get free shipping but not free returns from Boden and my local Nordstrom stores do not carry Boden petites, so I've stopped looking at Boden for now.

Suz, many thanks, this is exactly the kind of info I was after! It's really good to know that the models Boden uses don't necessarily indicate who the garments are cut for. I'm not sure how I spent so long stalking the website before realising that Boden supplies actual garment measurements, so I will definitely check that out.

I love the finds you picked out for yourself, in fact I went to the website to see if that gorgeous . I like even the outfits that you sent back, except for 5. The ones you kept are all excellent, but 7 and 8 totally blew me away.

I am 5'4 (barely) and my arms and legs are proportionately slightly short. I'm not exactly "curvy" (my bust is pretty flat and my hips are not super wide) but technically I am still an hourglass I and definitely have thighs of substance as well as a plump rear. :)

I also hesitated to order from Boden because I live in Canada and returns are not free. Stuff comes from the UK to us. Sizing is complicated. Etc. Etc.

However, last year I took the plunge and I am very pleased. I do need to read the reviews carefully and look at garment measurements. Sometimes I fit a regular Boden 8 UK (US 4, when usually I would take a 2 or a 0 in US sizes). Sometimes I do better in a 6 UK. Sometimes I wear a petite (especially if there is a V neck involved or a snug bodice.) Sometimes I wear a tall (if I want a midi length on a dress that otherwise shows above the knee.)

In general, I would say -- never mind the models. Things must be pinned/ altered to look good on them. Boden tends to favour a slightly curvy body type in many items. More so, say, that J. Crew, where the fit model seems to be more straight.

Here are my successful Boden purchases. As with everything, consider your overall body type and body type modifiers and consider altering where necessary.

The quality is excellent for the price point (esp. if you get it on sale.)

Dear fabbers, I have spent more time than I care to admit browsing the many gorgeous items on Boden's website. The shirt dresses, the midi skirts, the brightly coloured knitwear... I love it all.

However, I notice that Boden heavily favours tall, long-limbed models, and cuts that I think would look good on women with that body type (the midi skirts and cropped pants, for example, I see working on someone with a nice long leg line).

This is the opposite of me - a smidge under 5'4, very pear shaped, short arms and legs. I wondered if there are fabbers with a similar body shape who have good luck with Boden, and if so, what pieces you find work for you? I know they have a great returns policy but I'd rather not buy unless there's a decent chance of success.

Sorry for not posting any of the items I'm interested in here, I am a newbie and still need to work out how to use the 'finds' tool :)
