Thanks all, trying a different shape in bottoms and cropping the navy jeans to the shorter length (or more) seems to be the consensus.

Isabel - good point about pants color maybe needing to be more 'definite', I'm interpreting that as more of a contrast (lighter or darker) with ankles.

JAileen - that link is disturbing and definitely makes the case. I feel for anyone photographed without their knowledge though.

Linda - your tattoo shirt does sound cool, I like transparent sleeves with design on them that have the same effect too.

dashielle and Suz - I think the cutting/slight fraying is what I'll try first, thanks for sharing what worked for you.

Gigi - I think I'm pro raw hem if they aren't super dangly. But if it doesn't work, maybe I'll hem just a little shorter later on. How much fabric do you need to turn up to hem?

Sveta - thanks for sharing, your pinterest board is a treasure trove! Sorry your blush khakis are gone, they looked great on you.

Joy - going tonally darker with the blush is a good solution.

I love blush as a neutral for you but agree with your call on those skinnies. I do think the other jeans will be fabulous cropped. I hacked a couple of pairs of my own pants and it's been great.

Years ago before blush was popular, I was shopping with DSIL. She was so disappointed that I refused to buy a pair of skin tone slim chinos but I was horrified at how much it looked like i wasn't wearing pants.
Now I do have a pair of blush jeans, but they are a darker tone and more of a light mauve than peach. They don't look nude to me and I love wearing them.

I am giving up a pair of super soft blush skinnies for the same reason. They just never looked right... And JAileen's link was horrifying!!
(Nothing more to add on shortening the jeans - everyone else gave great advice. I really like how they fit and look on you so vote that it is definitely worth a try!)

I also have a poison eye for skinnies which are too close to a skin tone - the same impression that the person forgot to put on pants altogether.
However I think blush pink bottoms are completely wearable in not-skinny shape. Here is my Pinterest board I created when looking for inspiration how to wear my blush khakis (long gone ):

I agree on returning the blush pants. It's just not fab to wonder if you look like you're naked to others. :)

I like the look of the hemline on the right side of the pic for the straights. I think chopping would be great. I personally dislike raw hems, but that is just a personal thing. If you don't mind raw hems, then that's what I would do, since it's easier.

FWIW, I agree on the hacking vs hemming strategy. I did a bunch of jeans across all fits and love it. I even got out a hem ripper and frayed a couple of pairs...felt like I was back in grade school in the 70's and used to do that to all my flares! I preferred your shorter side for more ankle skin even before I read Angie's response. Looks more intentional to me. Good luck!

Ha - I used to have a long sleeved tee with vine-like designs, but the background color was an exact match to my skin tone so I looked like I had tattoos all over my upper body. Which was kind of cool now that I think about it.

They both look good in the photo but I'm thinking the slightly shorter version you're showing looks more deliberate and would look better in person than the other.

I think the pink skinnies would be a challenge for most people, in addition to their skin matching issue, the color might be just a little too undefined to be flattering as pants?

Yes -- The navy straights will look great cropped. And --- You would look amazing in a blush chiffon skirt! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. This would certainly be the right time to find one. Shades of pink seem to be all over the place for this upcoming season.

Ha yeah viva, I think I heard part of that too, and it explains the Polar Express problem.

You look so lovely in blush, so you should consider keeping them. Agree with others that they will look less skin-like if cropped. That will show the distinct line between skin and fabric. I just bought a pair of blush flared jeans for Spring and may have the same concern… Will have to play with them. Perhaps the flare on the bottom will make them appear less skin-like.

I love the uncanny valley theory and I love that it explains why I hated that Tom Hanks Christmas movie that everyone loves so much! I remember hearing a RadioLab on this idea a few years back and being so mesmerized. Makes total sense to me.

I am not a huge fan of the pink skinnies but what about another shape in that tone? It's the close-fitting-ness that is getting you into uncanny valet territory. cropped flares?

I would cut off your jeans too. I like the length on your right but I know Angie likes then shorter.

Thank you Angie, I'll estimate up from the ankle bone based on that :)

Aziraphale - ha, I remember those tops, and the bodysuits and blouses with the snap closure at the crotch, I could see how those would create an illusion.

alaskagirl and Janet - yeah it's funny, a color can look great on it's own, and then suddenly disappears against our body. I think Kanye's body stocking looking collection just fully embraced this (no thanks personally). I also remember going to a dance in college and it taking a minute or two to register that a girl next to me wasn't actually wearing a top, just body-paint. The trompe l'oeil illustration of a flowered halter top was really convincing in poor light.

unfrumped, those are good solutions for different shapes and accessories, I'll keep an eye out. The tonal idea is a good one, but because I wear mostly clear colors the tonal version would need to be a cool clear darker pink probably to work on me.

I Think the jeans will work chopped off and like R side or a bit shorter--with the boots is great. I'm not as eagle-eyed as Angie but you are on the right track.
I love the pants color as a color, but it can be a little creepy. I'd probably skip that color in skinnies/leggings. Might work for flowy pajama styles or culottes or a flippy skirt. Pencil skirt may have the same issue, though not as much. Your could still look for a darker version in similar color/tone and then maybe could do something tonal, using the true light color for the top or topper. Or do more in accessories--handbag, scarf.

Thanks Angie, how much shorter? how much ankle showing between the top of the boot and the bottom of the hem or raw edge? (with other shoes more ankle would show, this would be the smallest gap)

YES. Try hacking off some length. Why not! I hacked a few pairs of jeans too - some have worked better than others. And shorter than what you have shown here.

The outfit in #2 is killer.

I have that problem with brown-toned skinnies! I don't like it at all. I'd look for a different shape like slouchy pants or skirt. And I'm with Janet about chopping with a raw hem.

Rabbit, I had a ballet top once -- a sort of bodysuit that you'd wear underneath a looser button-front top (in the 90s it was a thing!) -- and it was so close to my skin colour that people kept thinking I was flashing them. I got rid of it. I doubt I'd buy pants that looked, however briefly, like bare legs. :-)

As for the jeans, I'd just crop them. I always have to get pants hemmed because I'm so short, and I don't tend to have problems. If the pants look good when you turn them under, they should look good cropped, too. If it were me, I'd take them to a tailor rather than just cutting them off.

Thanks Janet, the slightly shorter length? (right on the photo, not right on me)

I confess, I have a little bit of a poison eye for skinny pants or leggings that come close to a skin tone. From a distance, I always think it looks a bit like someone forgot their pants. So, yes, I definitely get the uncanny valley thing.

However, I do love that color for you, evidenced by that jacket. Also, I think you could crop those jeans and leave the edge raw -- I'm rather taken with that style right now for casual looks. I like the length of the leg on the right in the photo.

So this cool pinky blush is one of my neutrals, but when I tried on skinnies I had that feeling you get with animation that is too lifelike and turns creepy. They matched my legs so closely it looked like I wasn't wearing any pants, at least until they started to rumple. I returned these, but my question is, is this a color I should keep trying in bottoms? Or only in skirts or pants with more texture or volume? Anyone else noticed issues with clothing that exactly matches your skin?

I also have this pair of higher rise straights , they don't get worn that often because I only like turned up/rolled straights with certain shoes, and otherwise they are too long for my preferences. Here I've tucked them under (somewhat unevenly oops) with my highest ankle covering boots. Is it worth having them cut and hemmed? Just cutting them off and leaving raw? Higher or lower than this?

Angie has mentioned that it doesn't always work to crop jeans rather than just buying a pair in that shape, but if I can get more use out of these jeans which fit well aside from length that would be a bonus. Worth it or no?
