Thank you Suz! It is great to have solids because they mix and match easily but I'm grabbed by prints. Lately I like a column of color but with a subtle pattern somewhere.

First of all, thank you for the shout out! And secondly, I should be taking lessons from you. This is so well thought out, and of course you know you captured my heart completely at "blue." :)

Ummm, not to mention the upcoming taupe and raspberry!

I really love (and can learn from) you mix of patterns and solids. I gravitate most to solids but a really nice print is such a great addition to the wardrobe.

I love how you have analyzed which items work best for you and why. This will allow you to continue to refine and streamline. Fantastic work!!

Thanks for the kind words Shannon! Having the capsule to pull from made packing for a week long trip very easy. I was able to mix and match as much as I needed to. I do have certain combos I like better proportionally than others; i.e., I like my cobalt and white top with pants more than the skirt. I think the most limiting factor in mixing and matching is footwear at the moment because the trousers need certain heel heights and the sandals and wedges work best. I'll need booties or something for fall.

This is BRILLIANT! I'm so inspired by this.

You have lovely looking pieces here and I really like the various tones of blue and the mix of solids and patterns. There appears to be a really good balance, you know?

With this type of capsule, have you found you are able to truly mix and match all the pieces? I'm just thinking too that this would make an excellent travel capsule.

Thanks Gigi. You are right; it can be hard to mix blues. I had to return a blue blazer that I really liked. It just refused in mix in with the trousers or skirt and looked too biz cas for my life with the sheath dress and it made some tops look weirdly purple. Not all navies are the same hehe. I would love to add white jeans; haven't found them yet. Jeans are somewhat of a wardrobe hole for me anyway. Someone needs to go shopping with me and sort me out.

Thanks Rachy. For what it's worth I really liked that blue coat you tried on the other day. I'm just smitten with certain blues on certain people. I have blue eyes so certain shades of blue are my friend. What I have trouble with is that I often buy online and then am a bit surprised that the blues don't quite mix with each other as I thought they would. So I have done some experimenting within my capsule and written down favorite combinations.

I am like E - what E said. I feel much illuminated by your capsule exercise here. Great clarity of thought, and a clear direction to go in as a result. Also, I quite like your choice of blues. I'm all hung up on blues because I don't see shades of blue that well - they literally appear the same to me - and yet I see shades of blue. That is, I do have categories of blue and notice and think it interesting what different people pick.

Wow, great job! You did well to incorporate different shades of blue, most of which seem like they would play well with each other. That is no easy task!

I like MissVee's suggestion of adding even more white. But I love high-contrast dressing, so I'm biased. Have you thought about adding a pair of white jeans? I found that adding some white bottoms really made my dark tops stand out due to the contrast.

Hi E, I do have more in the closet. This capsule contains most of actually works and that I'm wearing though. For example, I have more tops, tanks, 2 more skirts, 3 more dresses, a pair of brown boots, a pair of green flats, a wool coat. I am looking forward to a Thredup order coming that has a taupe cooled topper and a raspberry colored topper in it and mixing those with the blues.

What a lovely capsule! Thanks so much for photographing & detailing it: I love peeking into other people's closets. :)

So is this the major portion of your closet or just one colour capsule?

Thanks, Ladygeek, I'll have to consider yellow as I don't have anything in yellow currently. I do have a couple coral things that mix in easily. But some lighter colors would be great for the season.

Or a light touch of "your" yellow - lemon maybe? - would really set off the gorgeous blues in your capsule.

Thanks missvee. Yes. I would love to add white bottoms and maybe white sandals to this. I think a white topper would be nice too. I forgot to take a pic of my favorite white and floral scarf, it helps to lighten things up as well.

Wow you've done very well to assemble such a versatile capsule. I can see how it would make dressing easier. If you wanted to expand it a bit I wonder about adding some more white? It always looks so fresh and crisp against blue. Just a thought.

I've been working on a blue and white capsule for the last year or so. I chose this color palette because blue is my favorite color and I loved Ingunn and Suz's capsule and travel posts. I'm attracted to all kinds of colors so it helped to have a clear focus on creating a blue and white capsule. With a limited budget I've picked some less than stellar items; some of which will be place holders until I have a budget again and can replace with better quality.
Pic 1. Cobalt and blue tank from Macy's. Keeper, goes with everything, fun floaty details.
Silk strappy tank from ThredUp. It goes with pants and any cardigan, doesn't wrinkle, is getting worn twice a week at least.
Polka dot Lands End top, gets worn frequently, wish it looked better tucked, works with pants.
Striped Gap shirt from ThredUp. I love the neckline, stripes, length, and 3/4 sleeves, but it bags out quickly at the elbows and is slightly too clingy; need a replacement for this frequently worn but not quite fab top.
Target lace top, this has a boxy fit that I'm surprised to love, works easily with any bottom. I grab it often for church and appointments. Wish I had two, it's showing wear but it's still a workhorse.

Pic 2
Lands End floral art t. It gets worn but is too long for my skirt so not as versatile as I wished.
Stripe turtle and tank; I have to stop buying that stripe bc it's on clearance and I want a stripe. (I'm still enamored of the stripe and floral look, lol, but haven't executed it very well.)

Pic 3
These each have a best outfit and so I keep all of them. I realize though that I used to buy cardigans too long. The ruffly Lands End cardigan is an example. The bottom row is J crew from Thredup, Eddie Bauer lacy cardigan, and Lands End. These three are workhorses and worn every week.

Pic 4
Coldwater Creek silk and linen skirt. This is a workhorse for me and I adore the shape. It took several years of hunting to find it.
Eddie Bauer pants. These have trouser pockets and I realize now I'd prefer jeans pockets. I'm pretty sensitive about that. So these are mainly for fall with boots and longer tops. These are the only jeans I own hehe.
Lands End wrap dress. I should wear this more, it fits well but I feel a bit vavavoom in it and that is not me. I tone it down with a cardi, but it looks best without.
Macy's linen dress. Favorite dress ever! It looks great with sandals or boots, cardigans or without. It's a knee covering length on me.
12 year old Worthington trousers still in heavy rotation
Lands End navy pants. Great length and fit but they pill. In heavy rotation.
I need more pants!

Pic 5
Ivanka trump heels. These are my fancy upgrade for the year.
Clark's sandals in daily use.
Lands End sandals
Black pumps, I forget the brand
Black boots. They look better with my skirt and dresses than the pants unfortunately.

Well that's it for now. I have learned a lot here and have much more to learn. I'm thankful that I have a wearable capsule during what has been a very stressful year. I thank everyone here and especially Angie, Greg, and Inge for creating and maintaining this wonderful place.

ETA my cardigan in Finds because I see it appears too dark in my photo.
