Many thanks! That was really helpful to get your feedback, as usual. I thought about the comments about this being a "statement" coat, and about what statement I'd be making wearing this. To me, it's bright, happy, cozy, well made, a wee bit unconventional, and has an easy charm to it. Just what I'm going for.

I'm keeping the large... looking forward to having something to wear that I can pile a few layers under, that isn't an enormous down parka.

The medium looks high under the arms and a little constricting for a winter coat.
The large does not look too large, it looks great!

A true statement coat, and it looks better on you than it does on the model, in both sizes! Not sure which size I would pick, although in cold weather, bigger is probably more practical.

Thanks everyone. Hmm...I guess it cant hurt to try a size up... the sleeves are a little short here (though they might be fine, just on the short end of acceptable). This size doesn't feel constricting at all with a typical winter sweater, but maybe I will like the sleeves and extra volume better. Also given the size i could try in store, i suspect that the difference between sizes is not so big in this coat.

I got this coat too! The fit on me is more voluminous - and yes the shoulder seams hit off the shoulder. If there's not room around the hips, I would try a size up. BTW, don't worry about sleeve length in sizing up. I was able to have the sleeves shortened, even with the leather trim.

I think this is really cute and looks like it fits well. I do wonder if the sleeves are too short though. It's hard to tell with your sweater underneath. I know I don't like it if my sleeves hang out of my coat, but maybe that's just me. I think the snaps are fun, they'd be easy to reinforce if the stitching starts coming loose.

It looks great on you. I had thought this would be a lot of coat, but it looks very natural on you. Regarding hips, it seems to hang well, but if it bothers you when you walk or sit, I'd be concerned. This blog post could be helpful: https://youlookfab.com/2009/11.....it-a-coat/

I agree with others, if it's comfortable with the kinds of clothes you'll wear it with, then it's good. It's hard to tell the sleeve length, the way you have your hand turned in 4. As long as that is good (and it's really personal preference--anywhere between thumb joint and wrist joint or something like that), I'd say it's a keeper. You could certainly choose to wear it more oversized and slouchy, but again, it's really up to you, and on your small frame, that kind of look might be overwhelming. I think it look larger on the model because she is wearing it open.

It looks better on you than on the model. If it is not too tight and you can wear the pieces you would want yo wear under it, it's a lovely keeper.

Here I am in the wool pendleton coat. I'm wearing a warm sweater in #2, 3. (Snapped photos very quickly due to heat!)
This coat is awesome, warm and surprisingly lightweight, with interesting details. I like the simplicity of the giant snaps, although i worry they will become a weak point as I pull on them to unsnap.
I think the fit is right-angie said the shoulder seams would run off a little, and it doesn't feel tight anywhere, though there's not much extra room around the hips.
What do you think? Any tips on assessing the fit?

Update:
I tried the next larger size in new pics, 7-10 (size L, pics 2-6 are size M). In pics 9-10 i have on a very bulky sweater, which wouldn't work as well with the M (though if it's that cold i would wear my down parka!) The sleeves are also better in the L, which I think fits more like it was designed to (oversized). Basically, I think I've talked myself out of the M.
I guess my question is, does the L look too oversized? Any other comments? I have a very casual life, and am just looking for something a little different from my puffers. Thanks!
