I guess if you spray with a little mist of water first it should be okay....I usually style mine at night and if I need to in the am, go over it quickly with a smoothing iron. My hair can get so puffy!

Also, I have to add that I do blowdry my hair all the time - except for maybe 3-4 weeks in the middle of the summer when it is unbearably hot. I get sinus headaches if my hair is not properly dry so it is a must. In my experience blowdrying your hair is not particularly damaging to the hair, if your hair is otherwise in good health (properly moisturized, no split ends, etc,) and you use the proper tools (natural bristle brushes instead of nylon, microfiber towels, etc.) Washing your hair everyday is even worse for hair health.

My hair takes so long to dry in summer I wash before bed and sleep with a braid so it's not tangled disaster, then blow dry in am (it's still damp and I wet my bangs a little)

I do this, because I HATE taking showers in the morning. I often blow dry part of my hair (the parts that sleeping got crooked). I also use a Ibiza Hair brush (B4) which helps in keeping the hair fresh looking. Sometimes I will spray Bumble and Bumble tonic lotion before blow drying for extra shine. It wets the hair a little so allows to control kinks better.

Hmm, interesting! I never really thought much about it, but I shower at night, and usually let my hair air-dry in an effort to avoid damage. Then I straighten my bangs the next morning, and sometimes use a warm blowdryer to style my hair a bit. It always seems to freshen it up a bit, especially when its not behaving properly. : )

I do this. I have a Brazilian blowout and sometimes it's a tiny bit less-than-perfect in the morning. A few minutes with the blow dryer in the morning straightens out the kinks nicely.

I do it to, usually when I've been lazy and let my hair dry naturally for daytime, but want it to look more polished when I go out at night. Only caveat is that it is hard on your hair, but probably no harder on it than flat ironing really.

I do this too. I wash my hair every other day and I use the blow dryer on my dry hair on the days I don't wash it to perk it up. I read somewhere that most hair products can be revitalized by heat. Plus I use a round brush with the blow dryer to fix the flat spots from sleeping. It only takes a couple minutes so I don't think it's particularly damaging.

When my hair was long, I would wash it at night and blow dry in the morning. But my hair is so thick that it was still damp in the morning. It took less time to blow dry that way though.

I do it too. I used to use flat or curling irons to tame the one side of my hair that always flipped the wrong way. The heat from those appliances was too damaging and I decided last year to give them up. I tried the blow dryer one morning on my dry hair and it worked. Great boar bristle brushes also help.

I'm usually trying for more volume in my hair, and almost never blow dry. I either go to bed with it a little wet and a tiny bit of some conditioning gel like Aveda's confixer on the roots (wake up with bedhead volume, brush and smooth surface/ends with a little pomade) or I use KMS hairplay makeover spray in the morning which also gives blowdry volume if you lightly spray it on upside down (it doesn't seem to have any kind of residue, I have no idea how it works).

But I really am not in the know about hair stuff.

Someone (in RL) mentioned doing this recently and I was really surprised. She washes her hair at night, and then blowdries and straightens it in the morning, to save time. I found it hard to get my head around the idea as I thought the hair being wet was essentail to the process!
Then I did a google search and found a few other references to the practice.
One called it a "faux dry".

Do any of you do it, and would recommend it? I am curious out of interest, but also, if like me you have straight hair anyway and only blowdry (only sometimes, in my case) for a better shape etc, have you tried it?
