This summer I finally upgraded to a Petit Bateau striped Breton because I realized I wear my navy and white striped tops to tatters every summer. The cut and fabric of the Petit Bateau is so much nicer than the less expensive versions I'd been wearing. I've also been upgrading my sweaters to cashmere and linen lately to replace cotton knits that fade and stretch. I have upgraded for the same reasons you mention. All year round I wear a tank layer. Mostly they were 100% cotton, but cotton can hold moisture and get uncomfortable.
