Tam I've been getting more into blazers this year too. I like the striped blazer for you too but for the sake of easy mixing the black one would be a safe bet. If you're looking for other options, I was in Temt today (do you have them in Melbourne?) and they have some really nice blazers both in knit and woven fabrics, not the best quality for good for experimenting with.

Thanks for all the advice ladies. I have gone back to the store and found out where I can find a bigger size (they don't order them in). I may be able to get there this week, so we'll see what happens. I don't think I'll lose sleep over it though, so maybe this is a sign that I'm not that bothered anyway!!!!

I would prefer the black blazer one size up. Personally I find 2 button blazers easier to fit. Less pulling as Kari said. In general, blazer color depends on your needs. If you have no black blazers, I vote go black, you will get a lot of use out of it. If you only want a fun piece or have other blazers, than I vote striped for a more statement piece in your wardrobe.

2 or 4.

I own a one button blazer that is just a bit too tight, actually very similar to how this one fits you... it is nice and tailored... I end up almost never wearing it. Because of the comfort factor. I am self conscious with it because of the tightness. I look too contrived I think. PLUS I am restricted on what I can wear underneath. Even if I don't button it. Because if you buy a blazer that can't be properly and comfortably closed, then you are buying only 50% of a blazer. For 100% of the price.

Owning it is worse that not, because you can't bring yourself to spend again on another one, yet you don't wear the one you have because of the tightness. So it's like having no blazer, and less money to boot. Not a good deal.

I vote 2. Since you don't have any blazers, I would go with the black as it will be more versatile and stay current longer. I think sizing up will make this look a bit better and make it more comfortable.

I never button my blazers/ jackets so if you decide to keep the black, go for it - looks fab! The striped blazer is more "Tam" though I love your outfit posts, always inspiring.

I think you should try the striped blazer. This one is nice (and I agree, if you go for it, I'd try sizing up) but I think the striped blazer will be really fun and I actually think it will be pretty versatile. I think they even can work with prints. I find stripes are a good entry level way to enter pattern mixing. They go with all kinds of other prints.

It definitely does pull when buttoned up, but honestly, I don't think I've ever worn my blazers buttoned. Do you think that you will?

I think you should have a black blazer if you do not have one yet. This one looks nice. Does it pull in the waist closed? How does it look open - I usually wear mine open.
Have you tried to size up - this one does look too tight on the back as well. However I like the style and vote yes, get a nice black blazer!

Tam - I'd try sizing up, but what might work better is not doing a single-button blazer. In my experience, even well-fitting single button blazers can look too small because there is so much pulling around the button. (Unless you choose to leave it open.) Blazers with 2-3 buttons tend to lay a bit smoother with less pulling/wrinkling around the button hole.

(Edited - I just jumped over to Anne's post and would love to see you try on that blazer. Somehow the stripes just seem suited to your fun and playful style.)

I've been thinking about ordering the striped ezibuy blazer that Anne recently purchased and looks wonderful in! I don't wear blazers at all, but I thought a comfy knit one could be a good way to make my style a little more dressy on the odd occasion.

Last night however I wandered through Chadstone and found a plain black ponte blazer at Portmans. Its a very thick, warm ponte, and lined. I'm trying on a 12 here, I think its a bit tight around the waist (I'm layering here with both a very thin dress, and then a LS t-shirt only). I like the length of this one though, and think it would work well over dresses and tops/jeans. Hard to make out in the photos but the sleeves are slightly puffed, a feaure I really like. It is $80 more expensive than the ezibuy one however.

Although I like the idea of a striped blazer, is a plain black one more versatile if I was to buy just one? I like the idea this one can be dressed up over dresses, but is also still comfy and casual. Do you think I need to hunt around and try sizing up though.

Please vote!!
1 - black blazer, this size
2 - black blazer, try sizing up
3 - striped blazer
4 - neither, keep looking

I need to act fast because it sounds like this blazer is selling out of stores fast. There is only a 14 left in a few stores around Melbourne.

Otherwise my shopping experience last night was very frustrating....look out for a rant about that soon if I still need to get it out of my system!!!

Thanks!
tam

p.s. please excuse the dreadful hair. I'm due for my 6 monthly haircut today - can't wait to get it all chopped again!!!!
