Una - I so agree with you that the names they give colors these days can be baffling - not to mention annoying! To me, in this case, ink would indicate a dark blue. Actually more like indigo than navy. In any case, do you have something you know for sure is a very dark blue? If so, you might try holding it up to that to see if it seems black in comparison.

If this doesn't work, then to me you should wear it with any color you want. So there! *That* will teach it to be so inscrutable! :-O

Yes, good lighting will help! I would just hold it against something I know to be a true black (also good to decide on that in good light).

In my experience, 'Ink" means very dark blue.

I don't usually worry about the name though, just what they look like together with other pieces. I have some blacks I won't pair together. I learned the hard way that Macy's has terrible lighting for checking colors -- must go home and wait for daylight -- sometimes that takes until the weekend

Yes, no dilemma is too strange for me.

I have a black (or so I thought) jersey jacket that is not old or faded, and I just realized today that it is actually a very dark blue. At least I think it is. The color name was "ink", because that is JUST SO INFORMATIVE. I have held it up to other blacks but even blacks can be different shades of saturation...

Anyone else have a litmus test for this? Maybe I need to live somewhere that has actual daylight!
