Give it a try! I suspect it'll be fine because the dress does reveal your arms, and is low cut too. Can you take a pic for us to see?

Also, I don't know if you have this or not, but I can't help but think "big, low-slung, white hip belt." I think because I had a similar tunic dress in the 80s and wore it with just such a belt!

Great outfit, Shiny! It doesn't look heavy at all. I don't own much white... but I do have some white jewelry. Maybe a big white statement piece?

I've done the black dress with black leggings:

http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....y10006.jpg

... and with another black dress I have (but I never took a pic).

I think it can work if you keep a few things in mind:

1) Go for cropped leggings - so you show some leg skin.

2) sleeveless - so you can show some arm skin. The skin will break up all the black.

3) Wear bright shoes. (Fuschia sounds great)

4) Add a big dose of white somewhere, like a white purse or white jacket or cardigan. Somehow, when you add white, it pulls it all together and brightens it all up.

I have the same dress cut and style (not AT) that you showed...I wear black leggings, a pair of Tahari flats...black patten toes, gold ring, beige shoe...I wear a tie in the front orange loose knit summer sweater...I get a ton of compliments on this...Funny, it all went together so well, I didn't think to question...Enjoy if you decide to wear it...crutch
(I personally would not wear white leggings with my dress...IMO)

I asked Angie about wearing a different ATL black dress with black leggings, and she was ok with the black and black. But other neutral colors are fun too. I like my pair of ruched denim leggings for a change from the black.

Maya -- I would love to see you with the black tunic/white leggings. I think you could pull them off!

MC - NY&Co. has a bunch of different neutrals in a cropped legging for $10 right now: there are three grays in addition to black, deep blue, and dark brown. Have a look: http://www.nyandcompany.com/ny.....ategoryId=

I think a charcoal gray (or any gray) would work great. It would be less stark than white, and less monochromatic than black.

Have a look at the jeggings available at the moment. A combination of jeans and leggings, they are probably available on the urban outfitters website. That may take the edge of an all black ensemble.

Personally though I see nothing wrong with wearing all black.

I had the same dilemma for a couple of black tunics I have, and I wear leggings that are either dark charcoal grey ( it is still obvious that they are not black) or denim-look.

Maya, go for white! I would not dare, but I could see you pull it off beautifully.

How about light gray? I know Angie does not encourage any kind of colored (non-neutral) leggings because they become a weird focal point.

My fear with white leggings is that they would look like long white underwear poking through. Like long johns! :)

So far no one is daring enough except me, so maybe my hunch is just off and it won't look good. But we won't know until we try. I can't try unfortunately because I am on a shopping ban, so I guess I'm trying to instigate others :p

I guess the other option is to exchange it for the purple.

Get yourself a pair of white leggings! No one seems to be trying this look. I have white leggings but don't have a black tunic to wear them with. I think it would look really sharp.

I bought this Ann Taylor dress in black:

http://www.anntaylorloft.com/c.....ory=Misses

It hits me like it does on the model, above the knee, but I probably have 100 pounds on her so I think it is too short on my chubby legs, thus I want to wear black leggings with it. I'm not sure it this is way too much black though? I was going to wear a really bright shoe (my fuchsia flats) -

http://content.nordstrom.com/I.....835113.jpg

I have some serious fashion critics around me and my boyfriend said the dress looked way prettier without the leggings and that with the leggings it was too much black. But I feel super exposed without the leggings.

What do you think?
