Stick to an A-line knee length dress with a V or scooped neckline and an empire waist that is NOT gathered. This way the smallest part of your body will be accentuated and the fabric over your tummy area will not cling – it will merely float on top. Have a look at the links below.

If you are pear shaped then you'll need a dress that’s A-line. Read this post for more info.

http://youlookfab.com/2007/04/.....tty-pears/

A wool crepe dress sounds like a suit dress and not the best idea. You want something knee length that’s softer but with enough structure. You’ll need a V or scooped neckline so that your bust has the room that it needs. You’ll want to emphasize the smallest part of your body, which might be under your bust. Is that correct?

I am 5"6 and I guess most of my weight is in my lower half altho I also feel that I have a larger chest area too. I don't like clingy fabrics which leaves out most wrap dresses these days.

I think I need to purchase a basic black dress; maybe in a wool crepe. I am a size 14/16 and in my early 50's. I am looking for the type of dress that would not emphasize my lower half. Any suggestions? I will often see posts on this forum that include actual pictures/sites of diff. items so if you have seen something you think might work, would really welcome the help.
