I thought these looked pretty ok when I put this up. I kinda thought responses would be a ton of enablers. Instead, comments seem pretty divided. What I’m feeling in my gut is wanting to defend these shoes, but there is nothing worse than a purchase going straight into the closet and not being seen for years. Kathie, Rachylou, Angie, Joy, and Tina’s comments on the heavy, dark look and unembellished leather make sense. Lurking quirk can be hard to find, and sometimes hard to photograph. Indigoprint describes the balance I’m looking for well. I think I need to do a session trying on outfits I think I’ll wear them with, like Sarah, Kkards, and Star suggest. I’ll include some new ideas from the great inspo Nikki posted for me. I do think the summer skirt and bare legs might be throwing people off, as Sal suggests. I’m thinking of my Pendleton watch plaid pants, among other things, roughly along the lines Roxanna describes. I don’t remember when they were delivered, but I placed the yoox order June 8, so should have time after my trip, returning Sept 15, but just barely. It would be better if I could do the session and get the post up before we leave, but I’ll have to see how my time goes. Nice with denim pants or skirts of a variety of lengths. To me they look like a winter shoe that won’t work in summer - but I quite like things that I wear 3-4 times a week in season then not at all out of season. Perfect example of lurking quirk. But I agree with others that the black shoes seem visually heavy to me. It could be that your bare legs and short skirt are throwing things off. It might be worth trying them on with the outfits you actually anticipate wearing them with? Remember your hair is getting lighter with the grey streaks that will become more white in time. Close up the studs are something you would need to embrace but, on your feet, with trousers/skirts they would not be too much..just enough. My son hates them. I’m undecided. Finds are shoes I wanted in the past, but wasn’t quick enough on the trigger, and the brown “school shoes” I’ve been wearing the heck out of. I’m not sure if these are snappy enough. They are not as embellished, but they do have studs around the sole. I don’t want so much embellishment I look like a try-hard but a little something is nice. I would not expect to wear these bare-legged, and probably not with the skirt I have on here. They’d be for cool-weather pants and skirts, including mini and midi skirts.
