This has been helpful -- thank you. My limited shoe options at the moment are making it challenging for this outfit to really work as I would like. I'm going to start with the most professional and tolerable footwear for this situation and build around that. My footwear options are really only black, so I think black Martin skinnies with a nice blouse and blazer (and possibly a colorful scarf) will probably be the best option to reduce emphasis on the footwear, if that makes sense.

Good luck with the presentation and sorry to hear about the back issues, Kyle.

The white/black blouses are definitely the most conservative options, but as others mentioned there's the wrinkle factor if you aren't popping a blazer on top to disguise what's going on in the back after sitting on a plane.

I take it you have road-tested the skirt already for the same wrinkle issue?

While I personally prefer the black with grey combo, it does feel a bit heavy for August in CA...so if you opt for a blouse I guess I'd pick white.

I'm actually most drawn to the travel-friendly red T with leopard -- topped with a (cropped or non-traditional suit?) blazer to give more authority. The solid red blouse feels a bit overwhelming to me in this context, but I think if you topped either it or the T with a third layer you might have the best of many worlds.

Midi beauty!

#2 - black top looks fabulous, but swap out the shoes to add edge.

#1 - use your white BB's shirt and scrunch up the sleeves, again lighten up the shoes. Nude!

#4 - swap out the belt to something brown or nude. This is a beautiful quality top and totally appropriate in my book.

#3 - add the leopard shoes to this outfit.

:) Good luck! And take care of that pretty back.

Well, I really like all four! I agree that the red T is too casual, but I don't think you can go wrong with one of the first three looks. I am especially partial to the black one--maybe add a bright scarf at your neck and a bracelet, to jazz it up, make it seem less heavy? Somehow I like the low contrast and it just looks elegant to my eyes. But the white and red button downs are fab too! Good luck with your presentation--sounds exciting.

P. S. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments on my new loot thread! I love your ideas! (I thought I'd say it here rather than bumping the thread back to the first page...)

I'm so fascinated by this skirt and I'm thoroughly enjoying seeing you style it! I really like it with the white and black blouses and I think that with some colorful (for the white shirt) or lighter (for the black shirt) jewelry, it will be a fab outfit. I think the skirt will be great for travel and you look pulled together and professional. I agree that #4 is great, but probably a tad too casual.

So sorry to hear about the back issues, Kyle. I really like the red button-down blouse, and that skirt is gorgeous. I like the outfit with the black blouse, too. I wondered the same thing as Aida - do you have another belt that you could perhaps wear instead that would add a bit more lightness to the outfit? Or maybe a silk scarf or metallic statement necklace to add some lighter color near your face?

Options are very limited to footwear. Bad back won't allow heels right now...the travel will be a bit challenging as it is. There and back in one day, so there is no packing. I love the skirt, but maybe I am just trying to force it here and should save it for the more casual red tee and heels. I'll sleep on it and decide tomorrow.

I say to yes to all of them ... the red top is definitely my favorite though, but if you weren't comfortable with it, I'd say the black is a runner up with accessories, as Deborah has suggested

Sveta I agree the black shirt looks great. Maybe add some colour through Jewellery and /or belt. I find the white a liitle stark, but again accessories could change that. Love 4 ! Is it out of the question? I note you are in advertising and wondered if this somewhat less conservative outfit might be suitable after all?

Actually I like it with the black shirt - maybe you can try different belt with it and non-black shoes? Adding white / cream necklace can also help to lighten it up. I thin it looks very sophisticated.

I think all combos look good. I really like the red button down. Maybe add a bit of color with the white blouse (necklace?).

The only hesitation I'd have about a button down is that it'll wrinkling while traveling or packed (unless it's no-iron). Would you have a jersey blouse or structured knit top that would travel better?

well, my favorite of the lot is #4, but I do agree that it isn't as businessy as you probably want. Is there a reason you can't do the leopard heels with #3? I much prefer the red blouse to the white.

Flying to Calif. Monday on a mission to close an important business deal. I can't wear much in the way of heels, so it has to be flats or kitten heels. I was looking at sheath dresses or pants and blazers, but then considered the Vince Camuto skirt. Easy to travel in, works with kitten heels, no worries about it being too short, etc. I don't have to wear a business suit. But I do need to look professional and pulled together and show that I care about the customer and the business.

I tried it with a white blouse, a black blouse (too heavy looking), and a red button down (really needs the leopard heels to really work). Also a red tee with the leopard heels. I think it is too casual for this trip, but I wanted to see it.

So, what do you think about the white blouse combo? If it's not working I have lots of other options.
