I agree with Angie: adding some contrast to the black would create a wow effect. She suggested pearls, a great look, always a winner, and maybe the best idea for Parents. May I also suggest: switch to nude hosiery and add a bright red detail: be it a brooch on the jacket's collar (if it doesn't damage the fabric) or a red purse. Do you have a trilby hat? The first night we are going downtown for dinner and <i></i>maybe<i></i> dancing. The next night we are having dinner at one of my favorite French restaurants with our Parents. I would normally just wear smart casual outfits, but I really loved shopping for dresses, and miss wearing them, so I am dressing up for my birthday and wearing at least one dress.</p> <p>Here is what I pulled together:</p> <p>1-4 Dress for dinner and dancing. Very comfy and easy to move in for dancing and I'm hoping a little more fun than solid black. It's going to be pretty chilly so I definitely need a jacket and hose. Not sure this dress works with hose but I paired it with black hose, my moto jacket for a little edge, and pearl studded clutch. I could throw my merino wrap over the leather jacket if I'm really freezing.</p> <p>5-6&nbsp;For dinner with our Parent’s the next night, it&nbsp;is still going to be chilly so I am pairing a textured pencil skirt with a paper thin merino wool sweater, obi belt and peep toe booties. (I just read <a rel="nofollow" href="http://dresslikeaparisian.com/tights-in-open-toe-yes-or-no/">a&nbsp;blog</a> that said it’s OK to wear hose with open toed shoes as long as the toe seam&nbsp;doesn’t show so I’m trying it.) I would normally just wear my pumps but these booties don't get much wear and I thought they might be a fun addition. I grabbed my old leather trench to top it&nbsp;off. It’s a bit big but I hope it's not too bad looking. I could sub my&nbsp;wool coat that is about the same length or a trench.</p> <p>What do you think of my birthday suits?</p> <p>All input is appreciated! </p>
