I wear Birkenstock sandals and clogs in the regular width (not narrow). The sneakers have a slightly different footbed with a less-pronounced toe grip ridge and a less-roomy toe box. I went up one size from my sandal size, but other than that they fit great and have worked fine for my walking lifestyle, which includes walks of three or four miles on pavement in hot weather. But I read the reviews for the Bend sneaker on Zappos. They gave me pause. Soles coming away from the sneaker after a few wears. She did say they were wide in the heel, which is always problematic for me. I think I'd rather see if I see them IRL rather than ordering online. I was just in a shoe store that had a pair of gray Birkenstock sneakers on the sale rack. In a size I sometimes wear , but they were too small. I was surprised that the “ foot shape” actually looked good to my eye and that the style might actually give a trimmer look than regular sneakers because the extra room I need across the forefoot is built into the shape, rather than using larger sizes which then have wasted space as they taper off a bit. But occasionally I do need sneakers, like for the airport or for biking. I don't necesarily want bike specific shoes cause I'm not comfortable connecting to my pedals like that.</p> <p> I tried the zero drop Merrills, which don't cause hip pain when I walk like regular sneakers do, but the soles are so thin I feel All the rocks in my driveway. Plus the toebox is really low, which is probably especially problematic since I have high arch feet. </p> <p>Has anyone tried these or other Birkenstock sneakers? </p>
