The seats on the stationary bikes are like sitting on a pointy rock! But adding the gel seat is like sitting on a pointy rock with a gel seat on!

I bought some leggings with padding which were / are excellent - that said I did get very used to my bike seat before investing in them. I think I am nodding with Janet in that seats / saddles take a little time to get used to. If I am on a short ish ride, I tend to not use the padded leggings.

I love biking but must admit I never owned any gear for it (except helmet). I just wear my normal clothes on a bike. I am intrigued by biking shorts with padding, wandering if they are worth it, but not sure if it is for me. I like to park my bike and go to a restaurant for a meal or drinks, or run a quick errand on the way and would feel weird walking around with diaper But I must add I don’t find my bike seat that uncomfortable - probably have enough natural padding LOL

My experience has only been with exercise bikes. The gel seats are much more comfortable.

I also wear Pearl Izumi bike shorts for long road bike rides. For short commuter rides, I don't wear anything special, just my regular clothes.

As an alternative to bike shorts, you might consider getting a gel seat cover for your bike seat. I've used them in spin class before and they are quite comfortable. Something like this.

Frankly, sometimes I think people make a mistake when they think more padding = more comfort. Or a wider seat = more comfort. I had to simply get used to the saddle, and it may be counterintuitive, but a narrower saddle ended up being more comfortable for me.

That said, my favorite bike shorts are Gore, and Pearl Izumi are good too. The padding on the Gore is not as bulky as other ones I've tried, but they do not seem less comfortable for that. I've no experience with padded undershorts since I don't care to layer for riding. I have a friend who wears those, with a skort over them, so I'll ask her what she likes.

I tried on some like that, so they do exist, but don't remember what brand. Do you have a bike specialty shop or REI near you?

I have a new bike! I do have bike shorts (one pair) but need more.

My bike pants have a big, diaper like pad that goes way up the back. The only thing is, all that "baboon behind" business isn't the part of the bike seat my personal bits are contacting in an uncomfortable way. I need something more like a feminine pad with wings, not something that goes way up in the back, to do the job of softening the impact of the seat.

What I'd **really** prefer would be something with an appropriate pad in it that I could wear under "normal" shorts or athletic gear. This is not something I have any taste in or expertise with, so if anyone can give me some tips, I'd appreciate it.
