Nice to see you post Jenn and welcome to the forum! Have a squizz at this post too:

I’m 5’ 6” but can’t sport a huge tote either. I’m dainty so I’ll look like I’ll topple over. The gals have offered fab suggestions. You’re after a bag that gives you ENOUGH of an oversized look, without being overly oversized. Flat totes are a good way to go. Does that make sense?

5'0" here.... I've been waiting for this trend to pass, because I've been very frustrated with enormous bags, but it looks like it's here to stay awhile...

Totes aside (Angie's blog gives excellent guidance), look for bags that are scrunchy and relaxed and soft - vs overly structured and stiff - and put stuff in them before you buy to see how it looks. If it's not too overly structured, and you're not carrying too much, it'll kinda... deflate... if that makes sense.

Pay attention to scale and be really choosy. It will take a lot more searching, but you can find bags that are more medium-sized but on shorties like us give that trendy "enormous" look. (And my DH confirms that it really is true... my butt looks smaller the bigger my bag is.

Jenn, Do you NEED a big oversized tote? Or do you need a purse?

Since you are 5'2", a smaller scaled bag could still give you that "oversized" bag look. I do not carry a lot of gear with me. I have a wallet, a note pad and pen, hand sanitizer, lipstick, car keys and that's about it. I carry a fairly small purse, and have a separate tote that I use if I have to bring a lot of gear with me. (I typically bring a tote bag with me to work with an umbrella, my lunch, a few bottles of water...and then I reuse that bag when I need to run documents for work.)

So, if you don't like the look of an oversized bag, and you don't have the need for an oversized bag, you can certainly find a stylish bag that is more suitable for your stature.

Hi! I'm a long time reader of You Look Fab, even if I I haven't been posting comments much lately. This is my first stab at the forums though

Anyway, I have noticed in the stores lately these really, really big bags. Is that the look?

How do you sport a huge bag when you are 5'2"? I don't want to look like the soccer mom who is carrying around everything but the kitchen sink.

I'm not going to be running out and buying a ton of purses-after all I'm a Frugality blogger, I can't afford a ton of different ones! So I don't want to jump on a here today gone tomorrow trend and look totally out of it next season.

Thanks for any help!

Jenn @ Frugal Upstate
