For example, when I invite people for brunch or maybe for a book club meeting. &nbsp; I am not a grandmother…yet, and certainly do not live on a coast, nor do I have a green thumb. &nbsp;I have managed to kill every indoor plant ever gifted to me, including cacti. Outdoors, I have only succeeded in growing apples, flowering bushes that require no attention, and irises.&nbsp;I leave the coastal grandma look to my mother, who embraces it naturally from her home in suburban Detroit. She has a sunroom full of orchids and lovely house plants. She has raised bed garden planters in her yard in which she grows all sorts of vegetables and herbs. &nbsp;Although not lakefront or coastal, one can see a small slice of lake water from her sunroom. Her house is located in a small neighborhood situated between two lakes. &nbsp;When I called her on Sunday she was outside picking/cutting asparagus.
